How are the Wizards fucked? I have no idea ask @lordefarquaad , he has like 5 paragraphs full of how fucked the Wizards are. DC can still make it, but being out 3.5 games makes it really tough and having Tyus Jones out for the rest of the regular season doesn't help.
Nets on the other hand are tied for the 8th spot, simply just getting that 8th spot will keep them from expansion (again....) but they have been fighting an uphill battle. Fortunately for them they haven't had too many set backs so they have a strong shot at keeping their team
Now how this works is each team puts out a list of up to 8 protected players and up to 0-7 unprotected players (dependent on how many players you have) then whoever the team in question is that's picking picks 8 players off the unprotected list and the draft ends. If there's more then one team, then they take turns and the team with the lowest record gets first choice. Players that are soon to be free agents even if they offer to resign and you accept that resigning offer are excluded from the draft and do not need to be protected, incoming rookies (if list are still being done that late) are also excluded.
