Similar idea to what itnas123 discussed about. Instead of the new GM buying out a contract, we would have something like a contract renegotiation. Maybe it could reduce the contract by a certain %. It would cost $500 and it would help bring down the cap for the new GM and help him out a ton. IMO it would be a good idea, but my opinion is not enough. That's where you guys come in. Please vote yes or no if this would be a good idea for the league.4 Atlantic Division: BOS - @b-Town, MIA - Username, NJN - redrum741, ORL - shorty, PHI - crazyguy2010, WAS - celticfanMidwest Division: DAL , DEN - , HOU - Flip, MIN - rookieoftheyear, SAS - gotmelk0490, UTA - gmgreggor, MEM - Central Division: ATL - shard24, CHA - itnas123, CHI - daedalus, CLE - entrapy, DET - IND- malice, MIL - thecommish, TOR - tyfreakPacific Division: GSW - chriskamanyourmom, LAC - apokolypz, LAL - getbeard, PHX - walker44688, POR - @hyperyellow, SAC - basenoc, SEA - BoshtrichBurger

Honestly, I see this as even worse. I think there were MUCH better ideas (renegotiation + redistribution of $$$) that could be explored. Players don't walk away from money in real life, why should they here? I'd prefer a buy-out (which happens relatively often), to a re-negotiation... which almost never happens.

Buyouts would be more realistic

im split on this one, will have to think about it. Dont think renogiations/amnesties should apply normally but with the way max contracts get thrown around compared to real life it may be fair to do.

a buyout where your forced to pay 75%(or something) each year? or would it just end the contract? im not sure how that would work

This isn't how the cap works though... www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q66The majority of NBA salaries are guaranteed for the most part and are complicated to an extreme degree not factored into FBB contracts. This essentially adds up an amnesty clause owners can push at any time. Per the rule-book: "Any guaranteed salary still owed to the player as the result of a buyout continues to be included in team salary, just as with any waived player." I won't vote though since I'm commish (and I can stop coming here if that is the desired direction).

If the other proposal didn't pass, then this one definitely shouldn't either.

Again why should new GM's get a buyout/contract reconstruction and current ones not get one?
