Scrutinize this all you'd like, but this is just my stoned draft projections. Its at least something, hope you enjoy.
TIER ONE
FUTURE SUPERSTARS
1. PG Stephen Curry
Many others throw their name in the hat but this is the obvious #1 choice. A lights-out shooter, sure potential, crafty and dazzling in all aspects of his game. Shouldn't have turnover issues and projects as probably the only truly elite prospect in this draft.
TIER TWO
TOP CONSOLATION PRIZES
2. PF Kevin Love
Probably won't ever be a shot blocker or much of a game changer on defense, but his offensive game is so smooth and hard to defend. A great court extender at his position, he's upset he's not the first pick. Elite rebounder, maybe one of the best in recent drafts.
3. PF Blake Griffin
Hard to believe two non shot-blockers could crack the top 5 let alone top 3, but Griffin is a monster athlete and produces tons of points, rebounds and occasional help blocks.
4. SF Nicolas Batum
Not very flashy but consistent at everything. Probably won't ever lead a team in any stat but could certainly be a very nice tool to build around. It's possible he develops into a star and that's scary.
5. SF Danilo Gallinari
Huge body for a SF which is an advantage and a disadvantage. Not much of a defender, a bit awkward and slow. Great shooter and has an inexplicable knack for finding the basket.
6. PF Serge Ibaka
A great athlete, may not ever produce great scoring or rebounding numbers. Though undersize, an elite defender, alters passes and shots all over the court.
TIER THREE
KEY STARTERS
7. PF Thaddeus Young
Not much of a blocker again and a bit weak for PF, he may end up better suited at SF. Though, if he can develop his rebounding game, I think the right GM can ensure his offense develops and he could really be a weapon.
8. SF Michael Beasley
Doesn't have the flexibility of possibly playing PF and may be too high here, but his ratings suggest he's worth a shot. His game is really unlike any we've seen so its hard to project his career.
9. C Roy Hibbert
A bit underwhelming as a rebounder despite his enormous frame. Developing his post moves and extending his range, he may be able to become a decent scoring option. His presence alone should alter shot selection, he can block a few but finds himself out of position and easily beaten in the paint.
10. C Marc Gasol
Another emormous body in the paint, Marc does a bit of everything well, a very sound, very passionate player. Great fundamentals but not exactly a star by any means. Don't be fooled into thinking he's the next Tim Duncan.
TIER FOUR
NEED SOME HELP, COULD BE SPECIAL!
11. PG Rodney Stuckey
Stuckey is a big PG. Has turnover troubles against smaller guards and has an awkward shooter's touch, but has a head for the basket and can be a streaky scorer. Should find some rebounds. Could mean something
12. PF Wilson Chandler
Sorta the Thaddeus Young lite, he basically has the same chance but looks a bit more raw. Even if his rebounding doesnt develop, could enjoy a SF career.
13. C Brook Lopez
Huge frame, though lacks a head for the boards. Should block a few shots but not many, does find the basket often.
14. C JaVale McGee
Huge body and a high flier, he likes to finish with a flashy dunk. Long arms find rebounds and he can gamble a lot on defense and still get back in time to save the play. Question is his character and effort.
