The 2047 NBADSL Draft was pretty much a four-man draft at the top with the top-2 picks being pretty clear cut.
Let's see how the players have progressed and which teams did the best job of drafting.
1) Blazers: Dwight Howard C 6'10'' 225 18
Before TC: B- F+ D- B+ B- A
After TC: B F+ D- B+ B B (+1 inside, +1 rebounding)
Howard had a pretty lackluster TC for a top overall pick, but he did manage to improve in two very key areas for a player. Getting from B- inside to B inside can take some time, but Howard made the jump seamlessly, which essentially guarantees that he will one day have A- inside as long as he has good potential, which one would imagine is the case.
Grade: B
2. Rockets: Brandon Roy SG 6'6'' 215 20
Before TC: B- C+ B- B- C B
After TC: B C+ B- B- C B (+1 inside)
There was a lot of talk about the previous incarnation of Brandon Roy being an absolute monster - I wasn't here, so I can't confirm or deny such rumors, but I will say that the +10 stipulation is very intriguing. If Roy manages to stay healthy and play all 82 games for every year of his rookie campaign, he is as sure a thing as can be. If he doesn't, he still looks to be a really good prospect. As it stands, he's played 12 of 12 games, so he's off to a good start. However, his TC left something to be desired.
Grade: B-
3. Hornets: Luol Deng SF 6'8'' 220 19
Before TC: B- C+ C B C F
After TC: B- C+ C B+ C A (+1 defense)
The Deng pick is a pretty safe one. He doesn't have a lot of weaknesses, but just like the real Luol, he doesn't really excel anywhere either, but is an established starter. Deng, like the other two picked ahead of him, didn't have an exceptional TC. He is a work in progress.
Grade: C+
4. 76ers: Andre Iguodala SG 6'6'' 200 20
Before TC: B- C C+ B C A
After TC: B- C C+ B C C (No changes)
It's only fitting that the 76ers draft Iguodala, after all, the real Iggy spent much of his career there. However, this Iggy didn't improve in TC and that signals some problems for the 76ers, who are hoping that he will break out into a star.
Iguodala will need to be camped this year to improve his attributes and hopefully after that, he can hopefully turn it around, but as it stands, he's a rotation player.
Grade: C-
5. Warriors: Andrea Bargnani C 7'0'' 245 18
Before TC: C+ B- C- C C A
After TC: C B- C- C C B
Yuck. This pick looks like a complete disaster. Just like when the Raptors selected him over LaMarcus Aldridge. Yes, I'm still bitter.
Grade: F
6. Hawks (Via Mavs): Tony Allen SG 6'4'' 213 21
Before TC: C+ C C- A- C B
After TC: B- C C- A- C C (+1 Inside)
I like this pick because of the defensive implications on a team. It's one of those situations where even if Allen doesn't end up being a great player, at least he will improve your team defensively every year. That said, Allen is already an incredibly defender as a rookie and will always have value on that end of the floor.
Grade: B+
7. Spurs: Louis Williams SG 6'2'' 175 19
Before TC: C+ B- C C+ C- A
After TC: C+ B- C C+ C- C (No change)
Lou is 19 and looks like he could end up being a productive player, but right now, this doesn't look like a great pick. Lou just isn't established anywhere that would make him a productive player in this league. Hopefully some camps and better future TCs change that.
Grade: D-
8. Celtics: Marcin Gortat C 6'11'' 240 21
Before TC: B- D+ D B C+ C
After TC: B D+ D- B C+ A (+1 inside, -1 handles)
Gortat gave the Celtics a good trade off, handles for inside offense. Like pretty much everyone else on this list, they probably would have liked to have seen more from their top-10 pick.
Gortat does look like he will be a productive player in the league some day and is already good enough to be a serviceable backup at PF/C.
Grade: B
9. Clippers: Devin Harris PG 6'3'' 185 21
Before TC: C+ B- C+ B- D+ A
After TC: C+ B- C C+ D+ C (-1 handles, - 1 defense)
Wow. That's gotta hurt. You hate to see that from your rookie, especially when the next two picks did what they did.
Grade: F+
10. Hornets (Via Pistons): Shaun Livingston PG 6'7'' 182 19
Before TC: C+ C- B C C- A
After TC: C+ C B+ C+ C B (+1 outside, +1 handles, +1 defense, +1 rebounding)
Livingston had a huge TC.
He looks like he will be really good if he continues on this trajectory. He has good size for a PG and as long as he can improve his offensive attributes, which can come with some camps, he will be a starter in this league.
Grade: A+
11. Wizards: Monta Ellis SG 6'3'' 175 19
Before TC: B- C C C- D A
After TC: B C+ B- C D B (+1 inside, +1 outside, +2 handles, +1 defense)
Monta, like Livingston, exploded in TC.
In terms of ratings, Monta is now about as ready as any other prospect in this draft. With some camps and another good TC, he will also likely become a starter in this league and will be great for a team running an inside-oriented offense.
Grade: A+
12. Warriors: Andris Biedrins C 6'11'' 240 18
Before TC: C+ C- D- B- B- B
After TC: C+ C- F+ B- B- B (-1 handles)
The Warriors second lottery pick may be better than their first one. Biedrins, who despite being one of the worst free throw shooters in NBA history has a C- outside rating, looks like he could be a productive player.
He's gotten some minutes and hasn't shown much, but he has time to develop at age 18.
Grade: C
13. Timberwolves: Daquan Williams SF 6'7'' 215 20
Before TC: B- C+ C- C+ C- A
After TC: B- B- C- C+ C- B (+1 outside)
The Wolves have since traded Williams to the Jazz.
Williams looks like he will be a good rotation player at the moment. With a few camps this year, he could have B B offensive ratings, which is enough to let a player score 15-17 ppg.
Williams looks like he could one day be a productive starter.
Grade: B
