For starters, God damn did this article take a long time to do. There are so many great players in this league that it's impossible to know where to begin.
The point of this list is to create some debate around here and I'm certain that it will, as everyone probably feels that their players are more valuable than others.
This list features the players who are the most valuable trade chips in the league. This does not take into account their current output, only their trade value.
Honorable Mentions: Shoot me a PM if you're interested
51) Mitch Richmond SG 33 6'6'' 225 B+ A- B- A- C D
52) Cuttino Mobley PG 27 6'4'' 190 C A B A- D+ C
53) Steve Smith SG 30 6'9'' 215 B+ B+ C+ B+ C C
54) Nene C 21 6'11'' 260 C+ C- D+ A- B- A
55) Pau Gasol C 23 7'0'' 227 B+ C C B- C+ B
56) Jaxon Stevens SG 25 6'8'' 205 A- B- C- C D+ A
57) Gerald Wallace SF 21 6'7'' 215 B- C+ D+ B+ C+ B
58) Louis Diamond C 22 7'0'' 243 B+ C- D B+ C+ C
59) Steve Francis SG 24 6'3'' 195 B- A- C+ B- C B
60) Dirk Nowitzki PF 25 7'0'' 237 B+ A- D+ B- C+ C
These guys are all negotiable in deals. If you want them, send the GM an offer that helps them or, in the case of veterans, gives them an opportunity to rebuild and they're yours.
Stevens, Diamond, Wallace, Gasol and Nene are solid youth and would be good trade chips in deals where the GM gets equal youth or a solid vet. None of these prospects are sure all-stars.
Guys like Smith, Mobley and Richmond are good starters who can move.
41-50: Guys who you can trade for
41) Drazen Petrovic SG 31 6'5'' 208 B A C A- C- C
42) Stephon Marbury PG 26 6'3'' 190 B- A- B+ B+ C C
43) Len Bias SF 31 6'10'' 230 B+ B+ C- B+ C+ D
44) Pee Wee Kirkland PG 32 6'1'' 195 A- B A- B D+ C
45) LaPhonso Ellis PF 32 6'9'' 250 A- D+ C B+ B C
46) Tony Parker PG 20 6'2'' 180 B- C B- B D+ B
47) Gilbert Arenas PG 21 6'3'' 191 B- A C+ B- C- B
48) Javone Bess SF 30 6'7'' 230 A- A- C B+ C- C
49) Allan Houston SG 29 6'7'' 211 B A C B D+ B
50) Ron Artest SG 23 6'6'' 244 B B+ C A- C D
This category has two blue chip prospects in Parker and Arenas, a guy who can start on any team in Artest and a lot of good veterans who are almost all-stars.
Some of these guys have been overvalued by their GMs in the case of Artest, Marbury and Petrovic, while others like Ellis and Kirkland have been passed around like a joint at a Grateful Dead concert.
Bess is perpetually underrated and puts up great numbers, while Houston is on few teams' radars.
31-40: Unless it makes me better, don't bother
31) Allen Iverson PG 28 6'0'' 165 B+ A- A- A- C- C
32) Shawn Marion SF 26 6'8'' 233 B+ B- D+ A- A- B
33) Boris Diaw SF 21 6'8'' 201 B- C+ B+ B+ C B
34) Shaquille O'Neal C 33 7'2'' 311 A- D+ D A- A C
35) Grant Hill SF 29 6'8'' 225 A- C B+ A- B+ C
36) Joe Johnson SG 22 6'8'' 225 B B+ C+ A- C+ B
37) Vince Carter SF 24 6'6'' 225 A- B+ C+ B- C B
38) Glenn Robinson SF 30 6'7'' 235 B+ A- C A- C+ C
39) Tyson Chandler C 20 7'1'' 235 B- C- C- B+ B+ A
40) Jerry Stackhouse SG 28 6'6'' 218 A- B B- B- D C
These are the players who are either the staple of a team's starting lineup, possibly their best player or a high-end prospect.
Iverson has been around forever and keeps getting better. Marion is a dominant defensive player who grabs mad rebounds and Hill is an offensive juggernaut who grabs a ton of boards at small forward.
Carter, Robinson and Stackhouse are explosive offensive players who can go off for 30 points with ease.
Diaw and Chandler are very high level, high ceiling prospects.
21-30: Franchise players who probably aren't readily available
21) Chris Webber PF 30 6'11'' 245 A- C+ B+ A B+ C
22) Eddy Terrell PG 30 6'10'' 222 C+ A- A- B C C
23) Alonzo Mourning PF 31 6'11'' 250 A- C- D A B- C
24) Anfernee Hardaway PG 30 6'8'' 210 B+ B A- B- C- D
25) Jason Richardson SG 22 6'6'' 220 B- A- C+ B+ C- C
26) Baron Davis PG 25 6'4'' 218 B- B A A- C D
27) Tim Duncan C 27 7'1'' 260 A- C- C A- A- D
28) Peja Stojakovic SF 27 6'10'' 230 B- A C- B- C+ C
29) Jason Kidd PG 29 6'5'' 215 C A- A+ A- C C
30) Antonio McDyess PF 29 6'10'' 238 A C C- B C+ C
You can PM a GM about these guys, because they are all available for the right price, but the price is likely higher than you'd expect.
These players will likely be all-stars this year or in the future.
This is the mid-tier of superstars that you can approach a GM about without being told to go away.
11-20: Pony up and overpay
11) Clay Elliott PF 25 6'11'' 219 B B+ C- A- C B
12) Julian Ibarria SF 18 6'7'' 230 C+ A- C+ B C+ B
13) Tracy McGrady SF 24 6'9'' 220 B+ A C A- C+ C
14) Andrei Kirilenko PF 24 6'9'' 220 B- C C A- B+ B
15) Paul Pierce SG 26 6'8'' 225 A- A- C C+ C C
16) Klym Artamonov PG 29 6'2'' 179 C+ B+ A- A D C
17) Benji Wilson SF 30 6'8'' 202 A- A- B+ A- C B
18) Lamar Odom PF 23 6'10'' 220 B+ C+ C+ B B+ B
19) Milos Obradovic PG 24 6'1'' 189 B+ C+ A- A- D C
20) Allen Olsen SF 26 6'6'' 227 B A- C A- C C
These players probably won't be traded any time soon.
The Hornets have a massive crush on Olsen and he may actually be too high on this list.
Elliott is awesome and plays way above his ratings.
McGrady is finally up for negotiation, but hasn't been to this point.
Pierce is perhaps the most dynamic player in the league.
Milos and Ibarria are elite prospects, good luck getting either of them on your team.
1-10: Virtually untouchable
1) Dwyane Wade PG 22 6'4'' 212 A- B- B+ A C B
2) Elton Brand C 23 6'8'' 275 B+ C C A- A- B
3) Kevin Garnett PF 26 6'11'' 220 A- C D+ A- A- B
4) Kobe Bryant SG 25 6'7'' 210 A- A- B- A- C B
5) Theodoros Papaloukas PG 25 6'6'' 225 B A- A- B C B
6) Yao Ming C 23 7'6'' 310 B+ C D A- B+ B
7) Larry Hughes SG 24 6'5'' 185 B+ B+ C+ A C C
8) Carmelo Anthony SF 19 6'8'' 230 B B+ C B- C+ B
9) Marcus Camby PF 28 7'0'' 230 B+ C- C- A B+ C
10) Robert Traylor C 26 6'10'' 290 A- D+ D+ A- B+ C
If you PM someone about one of these guys, you will probably be told to "get lost".
These are the cream of the crop in the league.
Wade has "A" defense as a third year player and has nowhere to go but up. Brand and Ming are also both incredible prospects and will probably be the two best big men in the league soon. Carmelo could end up being the best wing in the league in the next few years.
Papa has won two MVP awards and won them before the age of 24, which is unreal.
Hughes should probably be higher on this list as he's seemingly turned the corner.
Kobe is Kobe.
Camby is basically a stud everywhere and I'm not speaking out of turn when I say that Robert Traylor has a "100" inside rating or at least did last year, as it's public information.
These guys are the true elite of the league.
