1) What is your teams outlook? Are you disappointed or happy with your team as of now?
T-Wolves - As long as I have KG im contending. I think my team is solid I just need to figure out a good DC. Im neither happy nor disappointed right now, Im just waiting for the playoffs.
Hornets - Well if you asked me what was my outlook before FA I would have said playoffs and getting far into the Playoffs but then I lost Olsen to the Magic and felt i would once again me a middle of the road team so I had to rebuild and re-evaluate the team. Soon in a way yes I am disappointed but at the same time I am not because we are doing well with losing. It will be a risk but I will have to try and go for it.
Hawks - Pretty happy considering the injuries we've dealt with. Don't have much depth so injuries to the starting 5 will really derail any hopes for this season if they come during the playoffs. Think we make a strong case as one of the teams competing for the Championship.
Knicks - I would be lying to say that I am not disappointed in this team. Last year we had a 50 win team, and with only minor changes we were a below .500 team until this sim. Knicks are coming back, but it is too late to be in the top tier of the Eastern Conference as we would like. We will have a decent year and make the playoffs, but with the rock star sophomore in Yao Ming and the great play of young shooting guard Manu Ginobili, this team should be doing more. We have been quite lucky to not catch the itty injury bug much this year, so there are no excuses for the performance that is being put out there on the court.
Cavaliers - I'm very unhappy with this team right now especially at our home record. If we went 18-13 instead of 13-18, we could be a top 4 team in the East right now. I guess having 0 interior defense outside Marion is a real killer. This upcoming offseason, if we can reset CY, then I'll probably blow this team up.
Lakers -
Really surprised we're playing this well. Looking to mix it up a bit tho, but 11 games over .500 has me shocked. Been hoovering around .500 the last 3 sims i think but a DC change here and a trade or two there and i think we'd really be in a good position to do some damage out west.
2) Who is the most impressive team in the league? Most disappointing? Basically who is not meeting your expectations of them in the beginning of the season
T-Wolves - Im impressed by the Jazz, its nice to see gregg have a team that is a legitimate contender. His cap situation is pretty fucked for next year, but if he wins a ring I'll be very happy for him. Most disappointing is definitely the Grizzlies and Magic. Two teams who everyone thought was gonna contend and their teams are not up to par.
Hornets - I am pretty impressed with the Jazz who made moves and have emerged into one of the best teams in the league. Tough to keep the same team next season but he has the pieces to trade and still maintain them selves in the West. The Most disappointing right now will have to be Both the Magic and Grizzlies. Great talent for both teams and both seem to be in the Middle of the road so they could improve but at this moment they look like they are underachieving.
Hawks - Utah has done a great job acquiring talent and jumping from a cellar dweller to a contender. Giving up Melo must have been hard but they made the right choice as not many teams can hang with the amount of talent they have. Under-performing would be the Magic but as of late it looks like they have turned it around. Other than them I would say the Rockets, a team with Nash and T-Mac shouldn't be so far below .500
Knicks - Got to give it up to Utah for getting the best big man duo in the league in Shaquille O'Neal and Marcus Camby. Defensively, throughout the lineup they are very balanced. I would not want to face them if my Knicks team somehow makes it to the NBADSL Finals. As for the most disappointing team, before this last simulation, I would have to say it would have been my Knicks for the most disappointing, being an under .500 team. However we have rebounded, taking my team off the list. With the talent and the hype that has been behind the Orlando Magic, even though they have a winning record, they are the most disappointing team in my opinion. A team with Alonzo Mourning, a breakout star in Paul Pierce, Ben Wallace, and even Dirk Nowitzki and Vlade Divac off the bench. You would think with the depth and star power that the team would be on top of the league, even with a fair dose of injuries. Come on shorty! We all know you can do better.
Cavaliers - Ehhh this question is a sim or two too late. Utah has been sensational this season minus their latest .500 record in their last 10 games. Gotta tip my hat to greg for having the guts to trade Melo when others would have preferred to rebuild with a cornerstone like him. As for the disappointing team, Orlando from 2 sims ago would have been the answer. They've figured it out right now so I'll just choose my own team.
Lakers - Jazz are most impressive, one of if not the top team in the league. easily top 2. Nuggets are a bit disappointing, just came off a championship run but arent doing as well as i thought they would. i thought they'd be tearing up the west as well.
The Utah Jazz led by Shaq and Camby have been the most impressing team
3) Who is the most impressive looking prospect in the league? Do you think he'll bust?
T-Wolves - Judah Maccabee, and I'm not sure if he'll bust or not it depends on his potential.
Hornets - The most impressive looking prospect in the league has to be between a few players actually. Melo/ Wade/ and then the more less know has to be Ibarria who all three look to be able to have the skill set to get the ball into the basket. All three players are not going to bust.
Hawks - Yao looks fucking scary right now and will only get better. D.Wade will also be a handful in a couple of seasons, but I think Yao will take over the league next season onwards. His size and weight won't be able to be matched
Knicks - Well if you consider someone who is an All-Star in his second year a prospect, then I would go with Yao Ming. He is lethal from the line and a consistent double double machine. However, if that is not the case, the most impressive prospect is a player that has not even played a minute in this league. Julian Ibarria is going to be a threat for his well-rounded game and great scoring ability as a rookie. His entire game is a mystery though because he has not played up to this caliber of competition. It is a crime right now that Ibarria is not playing with his Boston Celtics right now. Personally, I am excited for the day he suits up for his first game.
Cavaliers - Yao Ming. With the lack of quality bigs in the league, I have minimal doubts that he'll be taking over the league real soon. If he can continue improving defensively then it's game over. He's 99.99999% bust proof. Leaving a tiny chance of him busting because this is fbb we're talking about (and we've seen crazy things happen).
Lakers - I really like Shaun Cagaoan on the Heat. I think he has potential to do great things in Miami, not a stat defender but has really come into his own at scoring and could be a dominant post force for a long time.
One of the most commonly mentioned names, Yao Ming who looks ready to dominate the league at only 22 years old
4) If you could build around any in the league - take in consideration age, salary, and the flexibility you would have to build around, who would it be?
T-Wolves KG, easy.
Hornets - I would have to say Theo that guy does it all. Really good player.
Hawks - Yao Ming or D.Wade, biggest upside and both play the two most important positions in FBB
Knicks - Consider this bias because I am already doing it, but I would love and do love the idea of building around Yao Ming. Already a 20/10 guy as a sophomore, it is always a good idea to have a big man being the defining piece of a team. He is not the prototypical NBADSL big man, because he shoots nearly 90% from the free throw line. He is likely to blossom even more and will receive his skill and physical camps on his next contract in three seasons. It will be fun to watch him progress through his career. This is the reason why his draft was of the utmost importance to me. I am eternally grateful that luck struck me right this time around and got me the player I had been focusing on all season long dealing with all of those painful losses.
Cavaliers - For the same reason as above, Yao Ming. I would have chosen Papa because he's such a beast but good PGs are very easy to find compared to good bigs.
Lakers - I'd say KG. Can play PF/C, young, and resigned decent. One of the better players in the league but i wish Super would shut up about him and stick to talking about Derrick or how good Jalen can be lol
5) What is the key to winning in this league? Depth? Strong bigs? Strong perimeter
T-Wolves - Luck. Seriously. FBB is so unpredictable, as far as how you build your team, I found that when I won my rings and when I finish top 3 its a team that has 3 components, a scoring athletic point guard, a top 5 big man and defenders at the other positions.
Hornets - Well I feel like you need a good wing scorer , a rebounding big , a defensive. post scorer scorer, a low T/O PG who can get 8+ assists and capable scorer. Really need a big 2 scoring players and excellent role players. Deep bench is not as necessary but more like insurance for injuries.
Hawks - Multiple threats, low turnovers and teams that can rebound. Being able to score >>> defense as well, at least in my experience. If you have good enough scorers having A rated defenders doesn't really mean that much
Knicks - There are plenty of different keys to winning in this league but what is most important is for what ever team you assemble, you must learn the most effective formula to best facilitate the players on your team. This is how you see seemingly mediocre teams make noise becoming formidable threats in the league and you also see on-paper great teams fail to reach their potential. Sometimes a great player is a bad fit for a certain team. There are some players that I fully believe are cancers and cannot to key players on a winning team. Glenn Robinson is an example of a player who puts up amazing stats, but hurts teams more than he helps. Statistics are great, but it is winning that is the only thing that
Cavaliers - Very good scorers at the guard and wing spots plus bigs who are at least decent defensively and rebounding to stop those dominant bigs. Just chuck it and hope that you outscore your opponent every single game. Fuck defense.
Lakers - I'm a firm believer in style of play. You need pieces that fit compliment each other more so than a star per say. Though stars will certainly help, i think you need at least star that needs to be a jock scorer and stud defender. Pistol Pete Maravich for example.
6) Pick the ECF/WCF participants for this coming season, then the Finalists... and the overall champion.
T-Wolves - ECF Hawks/Pacers
WCF Wolves/Clippers
Finals Wolves/Pacers
Champ
Wolves
Repeat of my first ring over tyfreak and his kobe/melo team.
Hornets -
ECF Hawks/Pacers
WCF Clippers/Jazz
Finals Jazz/Hawks
Champ
Hawks
Hawks -
Hawks/Bucks
Clippers/Jazz
Hawks/Jazz finals
Jazz champs. I don't think Okur/Bender match up with Camby/Shaq well at all, they would have a field day.
Knicks -
Bucks / Hawks - Winner in a thrilling series will be the Hawks with Klym leading the way
Jazz / Clippers - Big men win this battle with Jazz taking it
Jazz win the finals in 6 games with Klym keeping it close, but Shaq and Camby are too hard to handle in the post.
Cavaliers -
Hawks/Bucks
Jazz/Clips
Hawks/Jazz with the Jazz winning it all.
Lakers - Hawks and Bucks/Lakers and Jazz --- Hawks and Jazz --- Jazz
GM's around the league believe we will see a Hawks/Jazz finals with the front court of Shaq and Camby being too much to handle
7) Is this the most balance we've had in the league? Or are teams just struggling. We see a lot of teams right now sitting around 500 percent, usually a sign of mediocrity
T-Wolves - Its because not a lot of people want to take a risk and make blockbuster trades. It doesn't help when all everyone is after is a teams best player, but the moves are there to make, (see my finley and my jalek deals).
Hornets - Well I think teams are not taking the risks of trading so teams that are not great can't make moves because teams who are great don't want to break that winning formula. Then you see teams on the bottom who just want to tank and don't want to ruin that and as you see we begin to see those layers.
Hawks - Honestly I think some teams have a lack of patience when it comes to their team. Too quick to blow it up if it doesn't work out which leads to tanking. Half the teams that are tanking now had amazing pieces and it made no sense for them to rebuild. Guessing people are in this for fun and if their team is boring then they want a change. So quicker than necessary rebuilds has added to the parity we are seeing. So the reduction in a number of dominant teams is pulling the average win percentage back towards the middle which explains why so many teams are around .500
Knicks - I think we are in the eye of the storm right now. While this is the most balance we have seen, East and West, this does not sit well with the majority of the teams as they will fade in and out of the playoffs as there are way too many middle of the road teams. This should lead to a lot more trades in the offseason to create the parity we all know and love in NBADSL. However, some of the biggest players in the past may pass the torch to new dynamos. I am not going to name any teams in this speculation.
Cavaliers - I believe that the league is balanced but IMO having more mediocre teams is not what we want in this league. I personally would rather just hit rock bottom than get slaughtered by more dominant teams in the playoffs.
Lakers - I think its a little of both. i feel like this is the most competitive season we've had in a while but teams are starting to spread their wings a bit and distance themselves from weaker competition. the contenders will make moves to better themselves and create that separation.
8) We've seen a couple players break out, for example Pierce jumping from 19.5 PPG to 31.2 PPG. Who else is in line to breakout?
T-Wolves - Dwayne Wade next year.
Hornets - I have to go with Wade he has to jump once he gets another season under his belt and finally becomes the man on his team.
Hawks - On my team I think Steve Francis could make the jump next season, sitting on B- B+ scoring. I think he is capable of putting up decent numbers. In terms of the league, Melo would be my guess. 15ppg now but with a nice TC he could easily increase that up towards 22/23ppg by next season.
Knicks - I hate that I am writing this, but Wade will breakout and it is no secret. I would love to see him playing the point.
Cavaliers - Wade will be a beast once Braz trades GP and plays Wade at PG.
Lakers - Joe Johnson has already blown up a bit, but he'll be in line to get way better. But I feel like Melo is a quick bucket dropper so he's definitely in consideration too, Bulls are gonna be yet again next season.
Many think Wade will be the next to break out... And for good reason
Any other comments
T-Wolves - Fuck braz
Hornets - Well nothing really. Maybe a public apology.
Sorry to everyone for the Injuries throughout the years. Sorry, but don't expect it to stop because well no way stopping it at all when I am simming. .
Hawks - Hi
Knicks - How the hell did I not get more GMOTY votes? 27 wins to 50 is a huge jump in this league.
Cavaliers - fuck bloop (this one's for you ballislife)
Lakers - bring back Pistol Pete Maravich?
T-Wolves - As long as I have KG im contending. I think my team is solid I just need to figure out a good DC. Im neither happy nor disappointed right now, Im just waiting for the playoffs.
