Lets face it the waiver system here could use some work
Currently waivers can be open for a random amount of time before being closed: I've seen offseason waivers that were closed within 12 hours of opening and currently do not have a marked "closed" time either. There is also a major issue of when someone is cut to make room for a trade/waiver that player is sent straight into the FA pool leaving whoever is online at the time as the only person with a shot to land the player. This runs against the waiver system and is counter-intuitive in my honest opinion.
First: Waivers would be done using the "Add Poll" option on the thread in which when a player is waived you must add a Poll that closes 24 hours from the time it is created. You still post in the thread to officially claim but with the poll the end-time is clearly defined. This makes the job of Bundy, SRG, and Flip very easy and they will only assign players who have "closed" polls and the teams that successfully claimed will be easy to spot within the poll itself.
Note: If desired the below could purely take place in the offseason and after Opening Night sim it reverts to the usual method***
Secondly: All players who are cut are subject to waivers. This includes "cut XYZ to make room" posts in Trades, Waivers, etc. This would be done by making a FREE waiver for the player. The player immediately is cut from the original team but not assigned to a team until claimed or the waiver period expires. When claimed the player earns the NORMAL VETERAN MINIMUM so it is treated just like a cut in the normal sense just essentially assigns priority. This WOULD count on the Waiver List so teams that claim would still drop to the bottom of the current waiver order.
***If you are FOR the proposal but against the second part of this Proposal please voice it below.***
Given that the above would create additional work for Bundy, SRG, and Flip I also propose a position for "Waivers" be created. The person would be responsible for maintaining the Waiver list. I believe the players cutting a player should be responsible for creating a waive/cut thread.
