1. Sixers - Patrick Ewing
-Easy pick for the Sixers. Ewing is still worthy of the top selection given what the Sixers team was already built around. Aging but solid Robert Parish and Maurice Cheeks along with a bunch of young guns in Beka, Kelly Tripuka, Mark Agguire, Ty Hudson meant there was a need for a good rebounding big man. Felton was a close choice here but with Trip and Agguire they didn't need another no defense scorer as much as a big man.
2. Magic - Dragan Bender
-Shorty was real pissed he lost out on the projected top spot and Partick Ewing. Could've drafted Karl Malone off of tilt but Dragan Bender now looks like the better pick from a PF stand point. Shorty's tank attempt didn't work out how he planned but his team was right back in contention the next season. Bender might still be in Orlando if he was selected here.
3. Spurs - Detlef Schrempf
-Spurs went with Sabonis here but Detlef would have been a better selection for win now. Spurs had CY coming up the following season and had to move big pieces to avoid it. Than 4 seasons after that he was back in CY again. Sabonis is a good player but Detlef could have saved a lot of trouble in San Antonio. Prime PGs in Fat Lever and Tiny Archibald along with SF George Yardley and a young Clyde Drexler and Detlef would've been better than waiting 2 years and potentially losing out on Sabonis before he even played.
4. Knicks - Arvydas Sabonis
-Knicks were in tank mode immediately after the season. Tanked this prior season and falling from projected top 3, Sabonis and his 2 year wait stipulation would have been an ideal situation for them.
5. Pistons - Jalek Felton
-Felton is an easy pick here, Pistons needed scoring to go along with a solid wing defense with Alvan Adams, Julius Erving, and double-double big Joe Barry Carroll.
6. Wolves - Joe Dumars
-Wolves always looking for the next point god, it was surprising they passed on Dumars here and selected Wimberg. With CY approaching the team stuck with Ayidne Sprewell who's inside game didn't mesh well with the outside games of Isaiah Hicks and Jamaal Wilkes. That to go along with a +8 mentor in an aging but still dominant Seventh Woods would have turned Dumars into a monster in Minnesota.
7. Kings - Kobe Paras
-Hard for the Kings to pass up on a future champion and MVP. Kings, over the years, always seem to have a need for wings and Paras would have been a nice fit.
8. Lakers - Jan Niklas Wimberg
-With a shot at a new selection, Beard likely would pull the trigger on Wimb. A better scorer and defense than Chris Mullin, Wimberg might have even been better with a mentor camp from Earl Monroe or Walt Frazier. Wimb would have slid right into starting SF and played next to Lanier and Anya which would have put the Lakers back in the playoffs again.
9. Lakers - Karl Malone
-Surprising Karl Malone fell this far but other teams had better needs. Malone is better than Oakley so Beard gets lucky again, along with +8 mentor from Lanier, Malone could have been the future in LA/Boston.
10. Hornets - Chris Mullin
-Without Paras, Itty can't surprise anyone with random picks. Chris Mullin had solid notes and could have been the selection since Paras isn't around.
11. Heat - Wayman Tisdale
-Heat mentioned he needed a big, Wayman Tisdale is solid and better than a better scorer than Benjamin. Tisdale would have taken a bit to grow but playing with Big Oscar Robertson and George Iceman Gervin, a big just needs to rebound and defend.
12. Clippers - Charles Oakley
-Oakley would have been a solid addition in the paint next to Bill Russell. With wings in Jerry West, a young Nique and Gail Goodrich, the Clippers would have all fronts covered for contention out west.
13. Nuggets - Xeryius Williams
-Nuggets needed a guard here, and Williams is the next solid choice. Isaiah Jasey would have been a decent selection but with Cliff Robinson and Bob Love in they're primes along with an aging but still dominant Deron Davis, it would have been better to select a need position rather than a non-need.
