Top 10 Franchise Cornerstones Basically I sat and asked myself, if I could have one player to build around, who would it be. The criteria, I’m putting this all based off age, production and potential. So A player who is 22 will get the nod over a player who is 25 and produces better. These are players who can be the best player on a championship team, That being said, lets get to the top 10. Honorable Mentions Ron Artest, Grizzlies:
Age: 19
Starting Ratings: C+ C+ C B+ C
Current Ratings: B- C+ C B+ C
Production: 10/6/2/2
Franchise Player Rating: 79/100 Baron Davis, Trailblazers:
Age: 21
Starting Ratings: C+ C+ B- B- C
Current Ratings: C+ B B+ B C
Production: 19/7/4/2/4
Franchise Player Rating: 80/10010)
Jerry Stackhouse, Suns:
Age: 24
Starting Ratings: B C+ C+ C+ C-
Current Ratings: A- B B- B- D
Production: 27/4/3/2
Franchise Player Rating: 81/100
Stack is a great scorer, but he’s probably already peaked, his defence is suspect and if alex wants him to be a superstar he needs to camp that. Still I’ll put him number 10. 9)
Paul Pierce, Kings:
Age: 22
Starting Ratings: B- B- C C+ C
Current Ratings: B B C- B C+
Production: 21/5/2
Franchise Player Rating: 81/100
Pierce is a good scoring wing, big body, but like stack, his defense is average. Needs to improve if he can lead the Kings into their new era. 8)
Steve Nash, Rockets:
Age: 23
Starting Ratings: C B B+ C D+
Current Ratings: B B+ D+ C+ C+
Production: 29/9/2/1/1/2
Franchise Player Rating: 83/100
Nash is an offensive machine, can shoot the lights out and pass the ball well, but his defense is suspect and he can only score from outside. If he improves his inside and defense he can be a star, but for now I’ll take a point guard who can score and defend better over him. 7)
Dirk Nowitzki, Grizzlies:
Age: 21
Starting Ratings: B- B D C+ C
Current Ratings: C A A- B- C-
Production: 21/11/5/2/3.4
Franchise Player Rating: 83/100
Dirk is rare in that he has the game of a shooting guard in the body of a Center, hes a great scorer and his defense is alright but could get better, he has potential to be a stud. 6)
Vince Carter, Wizards:
Age: 20
Starting Ratings: B C+ C+ C C-
Current Ratings: B+ B- B- C C
Production: 8/2/2
Franchise Player Rating: 84/100
VC is an uber athletic big bodied guard with big inside game and a decent jumpshot, he needs to improve his outside shot and defense, but that will come, I think hes gonna be a big big player in the league. 5)
Stephon Marbury, Timberwolves:
Age: 22
Starting Ratings: B- C+ B C D+
Current Ratings: B- A- B- B C-
Production: 19/8/5/1/2.4
Franchise Player Rating: 85/100
I know what you’re thinking, “What a homer! Marbury is okay but not top 5.” Look at his potential and production. Theres a reason I took Marbury over Nash, and now you can see why, his outside shot was non existant when drafted, now hes shooting almost .500 from 3 while taking close to 4 threes a game. Hes a great scorer, hes a great defender and more importantly hes the type of Point Guard who thrives in FBB. If I can take care of him the same way I took care of Derrick Rose he will be a multiple MVP/All Star type player.4)
Tracy McGrady, Rockets:
Age: 20
Starting Ratings: B- B- C B- C+
Current Ratings: B B+ C B- C+
Production: 12/7/3/1
Franchise Player Rating: 86/100
His production does not do him justice, Tracy McGrady is an amazing player. Clubz lucked out whit the stip. He would and could have easily gone number 1 in the deepest draft we have seen in a while without the stip. McGrady will be an MVP in this league.
3)
Allen Iverson, Raptors:
Age: 24
Starting Ratings: B C+ B- B C-
Current Ratings: B B+ A- B C-
Production: 19/6/5/2/2.9
Franchise Player Rating: 86/100
Iverson is an amazing scorer and can handle the ball, hes small but knows how to score. Put in the right system, hes a superstar. 2)
Kobe Bryant, Supersonics:
Age: 21
Starting Ratings: B- C+ C C+ C
Current Ratings: B A- C+ B C
Production: 20/7/4/2/1
Franchise Player Rating: 94/100
The next Jordan. Kobe is an amazing player, hes all around and hes only 21. Will be the best player in the league next to number 1 on this list. He will win MVP, he will win rings. Hes kobe. 1)
Kevin Garnett, Timberwolves:
Age: 22
Starting Ratings: B- C C- B B-
Current Ratings: A- C C- A- B+
Production: 23/14/2/1/2.5 Blocks
Franchise Player Rating: 97/100
When’s the last time a player produced these numbers at 22? Its crazy, I took a chance at taking him number 1 and it paid off. KG has potential to be the GOAT here. Multiple Rings/MVPs and accolades await. He can also win DPOY multiple times. Hell, hes already close to MVP already this year, he still has camps left and is still 22. Watch out league.

you guys are overrating the crap out of hughes.
34.9 12.8 5.8 6.2 1.7 0.1 2.8 .415 .645 .280
Compare that to marburys rookie year,
38.3 23.3 4.9 8.7 1.6 0.1 5.0 .456 .759 .388
what exactly does hughes do better than marbury?
And don't forget hughes in his second year and marbury is in his 4th right now and his turnovers went down and shooting percentages went up

Idk, really wanted to see William Avery on this list. On a serious note, cool article to see. I obviously would have loved to see Jermaine O'Neal on the list, but realize he is probably right on the outside looking in. Good idea for an article
