Lets look at who improved on their game after a year of NBA experience under their belt. Who worked their ass off and who sat on their ass most of the offseason. *grades based primarily off TC and Preseason*
1. Wolves: Kevin Garnett PF
Pre TC: B+ C C A- B A
Post TC: B+ C C- A- B+ B
Preseason Stats:

Summer league Stats:
42.2 26.1 13.6 4.4 1.7 2.7 3.2 .465 .777 .250
Kevin Garnett's handles dropped but it is not too big of a deal as KG improved on the boards. Working on his strength in the Gym constantly and took drills on box outs and finding angles collecting boards with Thompson as his mentor. This has helped KG a lot and he did his job rather well in Preseason with an average of a Double-Double 14/12/3/4 and just 1.5 T/O. KG looked too good to play in the summer league as he lead with 26/14/4/2/3 and seemed to do everything at a great rate and even shot the three ball a few times. Great player who will look to improve his inside more so he can become a bonafide superstar down the road.

Kobe Bryant is a workaholic as he did extensive work on his jump shot and has aimed to be more calculating and less out of control and he looks be going towards the right direction as of right now. He improved his attack to the basket finding lanes and his jump shot mechanics look a lot better. Kobe's preseason looked rather lack luster in limited minutes as he was 7/4/3 his FG and 3ball were not that great. Kobe did show solid #'s but played nearly 100% of the minutes and only managed 16/9/5 and the %'s did not look good either. Needs to improve the shot selection and the jump shot some more too.

Tracy McGrady had a rough road to begin his career as he had to come back after a season ending injury last season. Coming back this season he did not improve too much as his main focus was to comeback 100% healthy but now playing with a chip on his shoulder TMac improved some defensively as he loves to hound the ball handler and cause steals. The Rockets are still cautious with his injury as they gave him 23 minutes a game in Preseason but what was seen was impressive 10/6/2 a game. The only things he seems to lack is some shooting touch looking at the FG% and FT% was low. Where McGrady really got huge minutes was in summer league even though the Rockets wanted to give limited minutes. McGrady demanded to play huge minutes and he did with 40 MPG. McGrady had a decent stat line with 20/8/5/2 and the shooting was ok with 43/76/ and 30. Look at McGrady to improve his shooting as a focus point for him if he wants to take his skills to a higher level.

Billups looked to improve his defense as he seemed to get beat at times when he was a Rook and he did exactly that but his handles dropped a bit. Billups' preseason was not noteworthy in limited minutes as it was just serviceable having a stat line of 7/2/3 but very high T/O with 2.1. Billups' was put at SG in preseason and it was not his best suit as he had 13/5/4/3 but once again the T/O insued at 3 a game. FG % was not too good but the FT was solid and his three ball was rather good at 40% a clip. Billups hopes to improve his point guard skills and really bring his T/O down to then be gifted the Keys to the team but for know it looks like Billups will have to wait.

Clay Elliot improved his dunk and attack to the rim and seemed to gain a better handle of the ball. Even though there has been improvement in his game the Lakers decided to only give him 1 minute in one game and only because a player fouled out.... Elliot did though get an extensive role in summer league where he did a bit of everything 11/4/2/1 but it was obvious his shot selection is still not the best after shooting 38 from the field but he does have a shooters touch of some sort with 96% at the line. Seems to still be a tad raw for the coaching staff who hope he continues his progress as a NBA player.

Stephen Jackson Improved his drive and figuring out angles but found limited minutes on the spurs squad as he only played 16 MPG and scored 5/3 but the three and FT % have been tremendous. His summer league was very good as he shot really well and had 22/10/5 he does though need to improve on his T/O though but other than that he was solid.

Keith Van Horn looked to practice only during the season with camps as he was not totally focused in the offseason with no improvement seen in his game the Hawks gave him minimal minutes in preseason getting 2/1 in 6 minutes a game and not missing a three. KVH was put on the summer league team and looked decent enough with a solid 17/8/3 and decent FG and FTs. The Hawks staff still think that KVH can be a really successful player in the league but their has been no drive thus far, the Hawks hope he can find that fire and actually improve on his own merit.

Luke Jeter showed to be a better driver finding lanes and his Jump shot and 3 ball have improved a tad more but looks like the Kings were not ready to give him minutes in preseason. Antonio Daniels looked determined to play a big role for the team after the coach told him he wanted him to take the next step (and avoid CY) and really become a force in this league. Daniels in the offseason worked on his drive to the basket and his shooting touch has improved but the three ball seems a bit inconsistent. Daniels defense and handles stayed the same which is seen as a positive in his sophomore season. The coach gave Daniels limited time in preseason and Daniels showed he has plenty of game with 11/2/2 in 21 minutes seems like his FG and 3 ball was really low. The coaching staff seemed to agree that Daniels might like the ball in his hands than playing off the ball because in summer league he was the obvious focal point and had 31/4/5/2 with 47 80 and 49 but he needs to reduce the T/O but passing the ball to bad players will cause this.

Anderson had 13 minutes a game and did decently with 6/2 shooting 50% , 77 FT, and 40% from three. Cuttino Mobley has been acting like a sponge around Drexler and has improved a lot because of it. He has worked rather hard on the defensive end due to having to guard Drexler, and at times even Manigault. Mobley also has been improving his Jump shot and the coaching staff has been rather pleased with his progress. The Hornets gave Mobley a look at both the PG and SG position in Preseason getting 16 MPG. In his 16 MPG he was very efficient benefitting from playmakers Mobley got 10/2/2 and shot the ball really well 55/100/45. In Summer league looks like he did well with a 16/6/5/2 a game and decent %'s but looks like he needs decent players to surround him to be more effective.

Danny Fortson maintained his inside scoring and can still shoot the jump shot. His rebounding is solid for a Sophomore but he dropped on the defensive end. Seems to be a tad slower on rotations and his shot blocking is very sub par. Looks to be in the mold of being a Buck Williams type player. Coming into Preseason Danny Fortson got an extensive look and performed rather well with 14/10 in 29 MPG just needs to be better finisher around the rim as he only shot 42% but he is a really good FT shooter for a big. In summer league he showed how he was a man among boys with a great 23/10 averages.

Tony Battie looked to work on his defensive prowess down low but still is somewhat raw which the coaching staff seemed to have had their worries so he got 0 minutes in Preseason, so instead let's take a look at what he did in summer league. Battie seemed to do a serviceable role on the summer league team with a 8/8 and a good FG %. Battie disrupts shots but does not get a lot of blocks his timing should get better later in his career.
