NBADSL GM COMPARISONS
This was a fun Idea I had, Kind of similar to braz’s GM rankings but a little more lighthearted. I hope no one gets offended by these comparisons because I did this for fun, I also didn’t include every GM, I included those I have talked to a lot and done deals with in the past, so if I didn’t include you, it doesn’t mean I don’t like you or don’t think you’re a good GM, it just means I couldn’t really pinpoint a comparison for you, so without further adeu, here is my GM comparisons, in random order.
BANNAK – Danny Ferry (Hawks)
Whoever doesn’t understand this comparison doesn’t get the joke, Ferry was the hawks GM and resigned for backlash over racist comments, is bannak racist? No. Is he a racist GM? Yes. This is why Bannak is Danny Ferry
shorty – Pat Riley (Heat)
Shorty is one of the best GM’s in the league, he knows how to build a winner and knows what free agents to sign, much like Pat Riley brought rings to the heat, shorty brought rings to the magic. This is why I give him the comp to pat riley.
itnas123 – Sam Hinkie (76ers)
What do they say about hinkie? “5 Years away from being 5 years away” It seems everytime Itty gets a solid core, he makes a trade for the sake of trading and deals away assets for assets. This is why itty is Sam Hinkie.
entrapy – Sam Presti (Thunder)
Builds his team around the players he drafts and lets them flourish and builds his system around them, much like the thunder GM Sam Presti, pretty easy here, entrapy is Sam Presti .
swish – Chris Wallace (Grizzlies)
Swish is a smart GM who doesn’t take many risks, he has a formula for success he uses much like Chris Wallace, he doesn’t throw out the flashiest team of superstars but is still able to be a contender most years, that’s why hes Chris Wallace.
bloop – RC Buford (Spurs)
What was that one stat about bloop? I think he never had a losing season, Hes always contending and his team is always one of the top teams, much like the San Antonio Spurs, Bloop is RC Buford.
springs – Flip Saunders (Wolves)
Knows how to draft his players and knows how to pair youth and always looks like he has a promising future, Springs is Flip Saunders.
BrazilianDude – Mitch Kupchak (Lakers)
The league rapist himself, no one knows how the hell braz convinces GM’s to do the deals he does with them, but this man knows how to trade. A word to the new GM’s of the league, DO NOT TRADE WITH THIS MAN, you will regret it, one of the best GM’s in the league and one of my buddys, Braz is Mitch Kupchak.
nyybaseball – Donnie Nelson (Mavericks)
Never saw the man tank, and when he did he was back in contention right away, always makes win now moves and tries to get a ring as fast as he can, nyy is Donnie nelson.
blue – Becky Hammon (Spurs Summer League)
Becky is female, blue is female. Nah im just playing, Blues real comp is Neil Olshey (Blazers) Finds his youth, drafts to build around them, and is always a threat to come out from the east and go on a surprise run, blue is Neil Olshey.
@hyperyellow – Daryl Morey (Rockets)
Does Hyper use analytics? After his title last year it seems so, that team was built to win in FBB. This is why hyper is Daryl Morey.
@somegrandomguy1 – Larry Bird (Pacers)
“This team is a contender! Nevermind! Lets tank!” The same way Larry Bird handles the Pacers, SRG handles his team. SRG is Larry Legend.
Flip – David Griffin (Cavaliers)
His moves look questionable at times, but they get results, and with that, Flip is david griffin, he doesn’t give a flying fuck about what you think about the moves he makes, because at the end of the day, hes contending.
EastDog – Elgin Baylor (Clippers)
The worst GM of all time who turned the warriors into the laughing stock of the league. Convinced the owner (Bundy) that he had a plan when his real plan was to sabotage the team and league, Hes Elgin Baylor, and its not even close.
SuperMaor23 – Jerry West (Lakers/Warriors)
Did you really think I’d leave myself off this list? Jerry West is the one who discovered Kobe, he’s the one who convinced Shaq to sign in LA. He put his body on the line so that Klay Thompson wouldn’t be traded for Kevin Love, he knows how to develop players and has an eye for talent. Sound familiar? Every time I’ve contended its been because of players I’ve drafted and developed, combined with stars I’ve signed in Free Agency, Bow down bitches, Im Mr Clutch, Im the logo, Im Jerry Motherfucking West.
