mmk another amazing article, enjoy
1: How do ya feel about your teams build thus far, the good and the bad
Blue: 20 seasons as a GM and i still cant figure out a good DC for any of my teams, outside my championship run in 2031. After the first sim and even throughout preseason and summer league, Isaiah Rider has shot a high percentage. Thought Zach Brown could help clog the paint with Thurl but they just haven't meshed.
Itnas: Well I think that my teams build is decent with Skiles, Manigault, Rice, and Qi but my big in Jasey needs to be replaced with a better big since Jasey looks to only be good if he is made into a scoring option. The bench is not too bad either with Maxwell, Laettner, Oakley, but the Wings need to do better Teagle and Preston need to do better offensively potentially score 4 points game would be nice.
entrapy: I'm pretty confident that I have a franchise cornerstone in Penny Hardaway. The problem right now is that I don't have a Robin to Penny's Batman. If I could get a top 3 pick in this upcoming draft then I feel that this team could go places. I won't mind Grant or Smith stepping up to be that Robin tho.
swish: I am extremely excited about the talent on my team, I think we have several promising guys under 30 – Petrovic, Finley, NVE & Malone. Tanking for one more year will be extremely beneficial. Defense so far looks to be somewhat of a problem. However, I know it is still pretty far off from any contention – the Pacers couldn’t make the playoffs with a core of Malone + Petrovic. Sim 1 performance was surprisingly weak but I don’t mind it.
dae: The good: Extremely excited about my core. Keeping the IT-Richmond-Bias-Lee core will be a top priority and will keep me extremely competitive over the next few years. I would love for Lazar to replace Elmore long-term.
The bad: Salary cap will eventually be a constraint when 2nd non-rookie contracts come into play but I'm going to live the cap happy life until then. The other "bad" for me would be that I love running an outside focus but I have built a team that prefers Inside/Balanced. I will have to resist the urge to blow up for no reason other than the desire to have 4 JR Smith's surrounding an elite rebounding/blocker.
tyfreak: After making a couple moves, I feel pretty good about our team. Kinda weak at PG with a 36 year old Magic, but considering we had just lost Hudson to FA, I think we could have done worse. Feel like we improved our depth and we have a shot to make another deep run if MJ and Hakeem stay healthy.
lakers209er: - My team sucks. I wasn't able to resign anyone from the previous Pacers Roster. I also don't have a pick for this upcoming season, and I have a roster filled with scrubs. But good thing is that I'll have a bunch of cap room. And my recent drafted damond Stoudamire has a bright future ahead of him
2: A new CBA is coming up, how long will the lockout be?
blue - aar running the CBA is a good choice, though things will probably take 3-5 seasons before changes are put into effect.
itnas - Not long actually 2 days give or take. We pretty solid system right now.
entrapy - It won't last long unless bundy has his period.
swish- Shouldn’t be a lockout unless GMs want to change the HC significantly. I like where it’s at so far, and don’t think significant changes should be made. It’ll be interesting to see if waivers change at all, as there was some talk about that earlier.
dae- 37 minutes until Bundy breaks the picketing line with his car potentially killing SRG. After that we all agree to knuckle under to all demands and keep the CBA as-is.
tyfreak - #LeagueOver. But as mentioned above, I don't think it should take too much time, we have a pretty god foundation in place as is.
lakers209er - I don't see it lasting long at all. We already have a good system going on here.
3: If ya wanted to see one change to this league what would it be?
blue - not any come to mind, league runs fine the way it is. but i do plan on changing my ringless streak in LA
itnas - What I want to see changed is how we approach the draft in this league no list has to be a punishment of some sort. The Scout system helps a lot but at times we do not get some lists. I think that would be about it.
entrapy - If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
swish - Less waiving and more trading; thus I like the idea of limiting big salary waivers. Perhaps slightly deeper drafts, seems like a lot of late picks usually end up being worth <$100
dae - Honestly this is the only FBB league I'd ever consider playing in so the formula is obviously good. I think some features are a ton of fun like mid-season resignings. Also anything that promotes people becoming more active in trades. Whether that's increasing the reward for trading, one-time incentives to complete deals before the deadline, or any number of things. Just to spice the league up a bit.
tyfreak - I'm still an advocate for a higher HC, but in the end it'll probably only provide a boost for 1 or 2 years. Wouldn't mind fixing the draft up a bit, but it's difficult considering we are all in different parts of the world and no set time for the draft. Sending a list would go a long way
lakers209er - hmm I haven't really thought of this. But maybe higher HC maybe? There's not much I would want to change myself, I likw how everything is going.
4: With the season starting which teams do you think improved the most? Which teams took a step back?
blue - Pistons, Scott and Nance are a scary combo with their youth. i dont feel any teams stepped back, tanking teams know they're tanking. but the bulls are having trouble moving DRob and that'll prob keep them as tweeners in the standings
itnas - I think the Pistons improved a lot this offseason acquiring Scott ,Nance and Robinson is coming to his own has set up a great big three for them, the team to take a step back would be the Bulls even though it is intentional.
entrapy - It has to be the Pistons. When you acquire two-thirds of a championship caliber Bulls team, Scott and Nance, while having some good young pieces at the same time, Robinson, Stack, Brandon, and Cassell, you better turn into a championship level team as well. On the other hand, the Bulls will obviously struggle without these two players. Once Robinson leaves the Windy City, the Bulls might end up with the worst record this season.
swish - Liked what the Wizards did with their team, revamping their roster. I know they were also good last year but their retooling was really great. Knicks did similarly well too. Bulls & Pacers, but like someone said, it’s intentional and for the best.
dae - One of the perennial contenders who decided to tank will make a run my bet would probably be the Celtics. Getbeard wins even when he wants to lose so probably easy money lol. I think the Sonics and Blazers will finish stronger than last year as well.
tyfreak - The Pistons are looking really nice now with their acquisitions of Larry Nance and Scott. The Bulls took a step back, but by choice. Perfect opportunity for someone with assets to pick up D-Rob
lakers209er - I didn't participate in last season. But I guess you say that the Pacers took a step back, or the bulls, but it's not like we are trying really. And it looks like the blazers had improved. The Knicks also are looking good this far.
5: Who do you have in the finals this season? Who's winning?
blue - i love the talent on my team, i think we're good enough for a ring if i can get the right DC. took the champion Wolves to 7 in WFC so i know we can hang with the best of them. but right now Wolves nad Raptors are the teams to beat, if im not in it, i think MJ gets that elusive ring.
itnas - Raptor-T'wolves again I think with the Raptors falling short once more and the MJ curse continues.
entrapy - I'm going with the Wizards and the TWolves. Unfortunately, dae will get another ring. Sigh, why did Braz gift him Mitch.
swish - Wizards – Wolves; Wolves win again. Let’s hope for a Mitch injury though >
dae - Raptors in the East. MJ is going to win his ring this year. In the West I think it's a bit cloudy. I was honestly surprised to win last year given my struggles at times against the elite teams. I think the Blazers could make a serious run same deal with the Sonics. Both teams if they get hot could provide a serious challenge to the Eastern champ. Wolves should be in the mix as well provided they find some scoring outside of Richmond and IT.
tyfreak - I'll say Wizards and Trailblazers with the offensive firepower of Thompson, Miller and Stockton taking home the ring in seven
lakers209er - wolves-wizards: or Raptors-wolves. But I think the wolves might go back to back. But who knows, I'm not even 100% on that prediction. It is pretty early into the season
6: Which team has the brightest future atm
blue - Pistons, they have good youth and start players. I also think we have a good core going forward. Rider, Smith, and Baker have looked good in the last two preseasons over two years. Wimberg and Stric both being 26 and not even in their prime gives good leadership for those young guys.
itnas - I would say the Hawks may have the better future with Mourning, Artamonov , Bender, and Murray but the 76ers Shaq, Divac, Ellis, and even Tim Hardaway if rookieoftheyear camps him - (Tim Hardaway PG 6'0'' 195 20 C+ B- B- C+ D A
Hardaway is a very solid PG that could start from the get go. A solid scorer, inside and out who finishes well at the rim despite his small frame. Solid ball handler and passer. Decent at getting steals. Good man on man defender and does cause some steals, wont rebound much. Camps could make him a potential All star calibre player.) and Clippers are looking rather good too with a foundation of Hill and Kidd.
entrapy - IF the Clips get another top pick then the league better watch out. Kidd and Hill are already a great duo but adding a stud big like KG/TD will make that team formidable regardless of the other players they have. Maybe we should lower the HC again lol. Or maybe bundy could make KG/TD bust.
swish - Definitely the Clippers, they have Kidd and Hill + likely a top 3 this year. Similarly, the Hawks… who the fuck is Klym Artamonov 0_0
dae - Hard decision. I think the Clippers will be very strong with Kidd + Hill. The Bucks the same deal with Terrell - Jones - Muresan. This is a challenging question due to FBB's ability to turn an excellent prospect into an also-run.
tyfreak - Gotta say the Clippers. Kidd has the potential to be one of the best PGs in the league, Hill is already a total stud and still has some potential left in him to grow, they have more young talent around them and a lotto pick in one of best looking drafts on paper.
lakers209er - Maybe the Clippers. Looks like they have building pieces that they are building around, ya know, jason kidd and Hill. I'm sure they'll have an early pick in the draft too. It depends how they handle this off season.but I'm sure he'll do just fine.
7: If there was no consequences for your actions and you saw Mathew Delladova in the streets, would you punch him in the face?
blue - nah, i'd high-5 him for that shutdown performance against Steph
itnas - nah.... He did a great job defending Steph. Just doing his job.
entrapy - Nah, we don't need another Cav player in a hospital.
swish - I would offer to buy him a drink.
dae - Meh - every team has a guy like this. Without those irratating, and dirty, defense-first guys every game would be like the NBA All-Star game with all stars scoring 30 ppg. League needs more grit anyway. The amount of soft fouls and flopping is embarrassing.
tyfreak - Nah, I'm going for the Cavs to take home the championship aye
lakers209er -I wouldn't punch him... I would go for his knees........
8: (For tyfreak and dae) What must be done to stop the brokenness that is Mitch Richmond?
dae - Ideally nothing? Honestly though IT won MVP for a reason. Richmond is always going to get his, just like all the stars in this league, it is honestly just a matter of slowing down the supporting cast. Jordan was scoring at a higher clip than Richmond while playing significantly better defense only to lose in seven. IT's scoring and ability to erase Hudson from the score-sheet played a huge role in winning in 7.
tyfreak - You can't stop him, you can only hope to contain him. No matter who is guarding him or what offense the Wolves run, Mitch is gonna get his
