yer here's the answers
#1: How did you feel about the previous season/offseason?
flip: I was suprised and pleased about how things panned out last season. I got some shit for trading away Karl Malone and IT for Jawun Evans and Trey Mourning, but it ended up being a great trade for me. I remember a while back shorty complimented me saying I choose the right players and I took pride in that. I decided to give up Malone and IT because they weren't doing much. I later found out that they were just holding back the team. I took on two mid-level players and there you go, I won the championship.
Guy who's fired: My offseason was good, made a nice deal, I gave up a shit load of picks and had to get rid of kiki, but so far its working.
daedalus: The tank was strong last year and landing two super high potential guys in Bias and Madison should give us a bright future. Offseason went a little crazy trading and painted myself into a corner to push for a CY reset rather than the intended tank. Overall very happy with the team.
springs: Last year was jokes. Thought we were fucked in CY but ended up making the Finals. Got slaughtered by Wilt. This offseason wasn't very good for us, didn't have cap, lost Moses, didn't really get anyone good.
saric9: I didn't like my team last season. Well to be honest I still don’t like it but I am trying to change things around a bit. To be honest change it completely. I felt like I needed to make a drastic change. But I didn't do anything as I didn’t get any good trade offers (OK I got one that was awesome and I regret a lot not doing it but still) I didn’t have my pick as one of the previous GM's supposedly traded all away and I inherited this team so I have no idea what he was doing. In the offseason I got some nice players but I wanted to have them all on one year contract. So I’d say offseason went the way I planned it to go.
lakers209er: I thought my off season was pretty decent, I got to keep Bill and Walt. I also got a #19 overall pick (I didn't have any picks). But this season has been really disappointing for me, I expected to do better than I currently am right now. But I feel like with the right DC, I can get my team right on track.
ROTY: The previous season was definitely a disappointment to me. I like what I did trade wise, picking up multiple picks and setting up our future. What I didn't like was us deciding to stay near .500 all season up until the final sim. In a historically loaded draft, would've been nice to have a higher pick but we settled in at #10. Maybe we had too much talent for a full on tank, but more losses would've been appreciated. Individually, I liked what i got from Shaq and Ellis' rookie season. The off-season went well though, drafting Tim Hardaway, trading for Yardley, and signing Tiny Archibald has Philly set up for its 1st playoff appearance in over 15 years
#2: What are you trying to accomplish this season and going forward?
Flip: I am always hoping to make the playoffs, but it doesn't look too promising with the squad i have. At the very least, I hope to hit .500 so my pick doesn't become a lotto pick. If it does become a lotto, I'll be really mad since I don't have the pick this season. I just want this season to be over because I've got some plans going, coming next season.
Guy who's fired: This season I want a ring, going forward I want to see Schrempf and Ewing develop into superstars.
daedalus: Reset the CY counter. Build a strong franchise around my core. Win the 'ship.
springs: Looks like the tank is back. Probably just get some lotto picks the next 3 or 4 years, spam the live sims to get +1s and then proceed with a mediocre squad.
saric9: Well this year I am trying to make a change in my team. I just acquired Karl Malone. Adding Drazen Petrovic would be a dream of mine. I mean I need a top 5 pick. Trying to move some of my players for younger players or future assets but it doesn’t really work as players from my team don’t have much value. Hopefully I can rebuild in a season or two maybe with some luck in offseason and start to become a threat to the contenders.
lakers209er: Well I am trying to win a ring... but at this point, my goal is to make the playoffs, I don't have my picks for the upcoming off season, so it would just be all bad not making the playoffs, and not having my pick.
ROTY: This season, I am trying to get this team some playoff experience and do so as a top 4 seed. Not only do I want us in the playoffs but I want to make noise as well getting out of the 1st round. In the future, want Finals MVP's for Shaq. Anything else is Gravy but rings are in Philly's future
#3: Who is your surprise team thus far in the season?
flip: The way the season is going, I'm not surprised at where a lot of the top teams are. Therefore, I'm going with this: I am a little surprised with the Cavaliers. They've got a decent looking squad to contend, but they're just not performing as they're currently 9-14. Hopefully when this is posted, they'll have a better record. I'm sure entrapy will find a way to put his team back into the playoff picture.
Guy who's fired: I'd say my own team, IDK if anyone thought that the Knicks would be a contender before I took over.
daedalus: Timberwolves. Projected to be a bottom 5 pick and instead are sitting as the #2 seed in the Western Conference.
springs: I'll go Bulls. Just because Fat Lever isn't anything special. Obviously they look good, just didn't think they'd be this good. I haven't really been following any other teams at all though other than my own, just checked the standings to answer this.
saric9: Didn’t pay much attention to other teas to be honest but Knicks surprised me a bit this season so far. Didn’t think they will be as high as they are at the moment.
lakers209er: Maybe the T'wolves, they didn't really have high expectations coming into this season, but they are currently the 2nd seed. They do have a great GM with a good histroy in this league, so I don't know if you want to call it a surprise or not. But eh.. whatever I'll just go with the T'wolves as my most surprising team I guess.. But he better watch out with the Rockets lol
ROTY: My surprise team, probably along with everybody elses are the Minnesota Timberwolves. Don't think ANYBODY expected them in the playoff picture at anypoint let alone the #2 team in the putrid West. Honorable mention to the Knicks, who although loaded still have a certain somebody as GM.
#4: Who has been the most disappointing team thus far in the season?
flip: Brooklyn has been a bit disappointing. I don't know why I envisioned them to be better, maybe because they stole Wilt (joking). But in all seriousness, I was expecting them to be a lot better than 12-9. I think LakersGM1 could switch up his DC to fit his team.
Guy Who's Fired: The hawks, poor bannak.
daedalus: Nuggets. Catch on fire last year and play in the 'ship and now are 3rd to last in the West. Honorable Mention to the Magic. Not sure anyone expected that offseason from the defending champs.
springs: Yeah, I'll go with us. Just put up a 4-9 sim after going to the ship. I'm not really disappointed though. Wasn't expecting to be good this year.
saric9: My team. The Pacers. But I expected it so it’s not really a surprise. After amazing preseason #2 I thought my team can even make playoffs. I was kinda excited and went to the 1 SIM of regular season with the same DC… I went 1-9 and I am 3-17 at the moment. 1st pick here I come!
lakers209er: The Nuggets, they were a hot team last season. They had a 2nd seed spot, and managed to make it all the way to the finals. But they did lose to the Magic, which can also be considered another disappointing team. But you can't blame them, with the off season they had. They go from first, to the bottom pile of the East sadly. Also my team has been disappointing, feel like we could e doing a lot better right now.
ROTY: Split between the Lakers and Cavaliers 1A & 1B. Both perennial contenders who have gotten off to slow starts. Think both pick it up some, but with Larry Bird quickly dying the Lakers championship window has surely closed. Cleveland has twin towers down low and until Kareem decides to leave his vagina at home before games there season will be an utter disappointment.
#5: Which two teams do you have in the finals this year? Who wins it all?
flip: I've got the Bulls coming out of the East this season. They were the biggest threat to the Magic squad we had last season. I was surprised when we beat them in 7 to get to the Finals. I think bloop gets them there once again this year.
Out West, It's a close one between the CLippers and the Suns for me, but in a series, I'd have to say the Suns get to the finals.
I'll give the 'ship to the Bulls this season. I could be wrong, but they look like the clear cut winner.
Guy who's fired: Knicks-Suns. Knicks in 5
daedalus: Clippers and Bulls. I think the West is rather weak this year and the Clippers will cruise through. I think the Bulls may have some extremely tough series but will make it through the gauntlet and overwhelm the Clips in 5
springs: Bulls/Suns. David Robinson takes home a nice shiny Finals MVP trophy.
saric9: Bulls vs. Suns. Bulls in 6.
lakers209er: Might be too early for this, but if I had to chose right now it would be the Bulls vs Clippers. And maybe the Bulls winning it in 6 games. But who knows what will happen, there's plenty of games left in the season
ROTY: Bulls v Clippers. Too much firepower on Chicago with the Admiral seemingly upling his game up yet another level this season. MJ has to soon find a new home after falling short yet again
#6: Why do you think the Seattle Supersonics have the best future in the league?
flip: Because...SRG.
Seriously though, they've got a young squad on some good contracts. The team has scorers in the backcourt, good defense on the wing, and a bright future for Dikembe and Rod Strickland.
Guy who's fired: Benji Wilson
daedalus: Mutombo - Benji - Strickland are superb franchise cornerstones. I'd rate the Wolves in a similar category with Lee - Bias - Richmond. Should be a fun time in the rest once our teams fully develop.
springs: Because they play in the West.
saric9: Deke, Benji, Strickland… With all others I don’t know but I seems their future is bright don’t you?
lakers209er: They have some good youth with potential. If the Sonics keeps on developing them and keeping the together, we can have another threat in the West for years to come. But action speaks louder than words
ROTY: Because this question is being asked from their GM's perspective. Benji is Great but Diesel fuel is too potent for that tank !
#7: When all of the players that were drafted this past offseason retire, where will this draft rank among other drafts?
flip: I can't answer this with 100% honesty because I really don't pay attention to the draft, nor have I actually been active for drafts in a long time. I see some big names, but not sure how all of them will perform come the time they retire.
Guy who's fired: I dont know yet, we must wait and see what happens with these players.
daedalus: It will be highly rated. Early returns make it likely one of the better in recent memories.
springs: TC giveth, and TC taketh away. Who the fuck knows.
saric9: This season’s draft was a really good one. There was one problem. I had no picks so I didn’t really check all player cuz I’d just be in a bad mood . But with ZO, Mutombo, Payton, Divac…. I feel like it will be in the top half of the drafts
lakers209er: Really tough to tell at this point, but it could be ranked in top 10, or top 5. I don't know, we just got to wait and see. But this draft will be remembered for ever, even if it becomes the worst, or best draft class ever.
ROTY: #1 No ifs ands or buts about it. Top 4 will all be Hall of Famers
#8: Blazers are currently 2 games under 50% atm, do you think they can make the playoffs as is?
flip: I believe they can. The West looks pretty weak, but then again, if this is how the season goes, there might be a good race for the 7th and 8th seeds out West.
Guy who's fired: Yes, the west is wack as fuck this year.
daedalus: No. Rebounding is important. When you rank near the bottoms in rebounds AND opponent rebounds you're going to have a tough time beating good teams.
springs: Maybe. They've only played 8 home games, 12 road games which were against tough opponents. I think they'll slide in.
saric9: I think it’s too early to see that. Maybe it they keep their home record similar to the one they have now it can happen. As it looks now I’d say 10-11 teams in the West can make playoffs. So they have a nice chance imo.
lakers209er: I think it’s too early to see that. Maybe it they keep their home record similar to the one they have now it can happen. As it looks now I’d say 10-11 teams in the West can make playoffs. So they have a nice chance imo.
ROTY: The West is weak, but so are the Blazers. Led by the never improving surefire stud turned dud John Stockin, they'll need to make some moves to do anything serious, but think they could still sneak in as is as more & more teams commit to the tank
#9: For Flip and Springs, how soon will the both of you be back to contending?
flip: I'll give it about a season or two after this season. I'm just waiting for this season to go by and hopefully I can strike some good FA's since I've got a lot of players on one year deals. I've got my pick next season and the season after, so if my plans go well, I'll be back on the hunt for a championship sooner than later.
springs: Hilary Clinton will be president before the Nugs contend for the ship again.
#1: How did you feel about the previous season/offseason?
flip: I was suprised and pleased about how things panned out last season.
