Western Conference Preseason Power Rankings
Hey guys, its good to be back. I had to write a league wide article to signal #TheReturn. So without further adu, lets get to Supermaor23s western conference power rankings. I made these rankings with my opinion, so if I’m wrong, then I’m wrong and prove me wrong. I took potential into account, how I think the teams look on paper, looked at preseason numbers as well. But mostly its all based off my opinion on what team is going to consistently win this year.
1) Clippers
Projected Record: 58 – 24
Team MVP: Michael Jordan
The Clippers had a really nice offseason, they acquired Zach Brown to pair with Bill Walton and still retained Michael Jordan. In preseason His Airness averaged 33/8/4 with 3 Steals. If nyy can get a decent point guard before the all star break I wouldn’t be surprised to see this team come out from out west to go to the finals and even hand MJ his first ring.
2) Lakers
Projected Record: 56-26
Team MVP: Larry Bird
Ask anyone what the usual formula for success in FBB is and they will tell you everything the Lakers currently have, A superstar at point guard, a shooter on the wing, a star scorer at the 3 and bigs who can block/rebound. Preseason saw getbeards big 3 combine for an insane 70+ PPG. Chris Mullin came out of nowhere to score 25 PPG. Can he keep it up though? That’s the question the Lakers will need to be answered. If the answer is yes, look out west. The Lakers might bring another title to LA.
3) Mavericks
Projected Record: 54-28
Team MVP: Gar “Quincy” Heard
For those of you who don’t understand why swish keeps giving Gar Heard these crazy contracts, lets have a little history review. In the previous league that was run bundy aka david stern aka the creator made a player called quincy who was the unanimous GOAT winning multiple rings. It was revealed that there was a quincy in this league, after much speculation, hyper guessed that it was Gar Heard and bundy confirmed. That’s when swish decided that he didn’t need Michael Jordan, all he needed was Gar Heard. Lo and Behold, that is why swish runs with Gar as his star. The mavs come in at number 3 for me, because IMHO, Gar isn’t on the level of MJ and Earl.
4) Blazers
Projected Record: 51-31
Team MVP: John Stockton
Hypers team reminds me of the 7 seconds or less suns that lead to Steve Nash winning back to back MVPs. Even though those MVPs clearly should have gone to Kobe, they went to Nash. Don’t be shocked if Stockton take MVP this year as FBB has a gigantic Hard On for Point Guards. If hyper gets his DC right I can see this team averaging a league high in points per game. I gave them number 4.
5) Warriors
Projected Record: 48 – 34
Team MVP: Jalek Felton
It’s the same thing every year, the Warriors jump out to a great record, and the shoutbox is filled with the same question, “Are the Warriors for real?” I predict much of the same this year, and as much of a nice guy and good GM ducks is, I’ll say the same answer, No.
6) Spurs
Projected Record: 47-35
Team MVP: Arvydas Sabonis
Will this be the year Sabonis finally explodes? Yes. Guy is averaging 4 blocks a game for Christ sakes. Does that make the spurs a contender? I don’t think so, But still lets see if Clyde and Sabonis can make some noise in the playoffs before I brush them off.
7) Nuggets
Projected Record: 47-35
Team MVP: Charles Barkley
One of my favorite scenes from space jam is the “Be gone wannabe, be gone” scene when Sir Charles gets his talent taken from the monstars. Why do I bring this up, I have no idea, I just like that scene. Barkley is a dark horse for MVP in this league, If the Nuggets can find a DC to maximize his potential, I think springs can actually make another trip to the finals
8) Rockets
Projected Record: 46-36
Team MVP: Scottie “Fuck Michael Jordan” Pippen
For some reason, Scottie Pippens leagacy in this league is trumphing Michael Jordans, But this season we wil find out if it was an overpowered team that lead to his success, or if he actually is the real deal. Im looking forward to seeing Scottie VS MJ in the playoffs.
9) Kings
Projected Record: 44-38
Team MVP: Joe Dumars
I find it really funny that Dumars is what Isiah was supposed to be, just goes to show you how this league is. Basenoc is a great gm, he always finds a way to contend, this is going to be his first year without Thon Maker and that’s why I have him at Number 9 and not in the top 5.
10) Suns
Projected Record: 44-38
Team MVP: Davon Dillard
Are they tanking or contending or pushing? I guess the first 3 sims will reveal that answer for pop. Its funny how his name is pop because he reminds me of coach popovich the way he runs his teams. Still, don’t think he makes the playoffs this year, too much firepower in the west.
11) Sonics
Projected Record: 42-40
Team MVP: Benji Wilson
Of all players, I’m most excited to see how Ben Wilson develops. I think he winds up the GOAT in this sim, if the chuck master can stay away from his chucking lifestyle, and build around him, he can do just as much as derrick rose did for me. #FuckTheChuck
12) Wolves
Projected Record: 36-48
Team MVP: Mitch “Rich Whatttt?” Richmond
Can we start a petition to get the wolves to Do the chant from coach carter before the games? Rich What? Richmond! Who has a bright future? Rich what? Richmond! Who is gonna have a 50 point game this year? Rich What? Richmond! Who isn’t going to make the playoffs? Rich What?? Richmond! But who’s team has a crazy bright future? Rich What? Richmond!
13) Grizzlies
Projected Record: 30-52
Team MVP: Oscar Schmidt
I love seeing braz at the bottom, so let me do this like a wedding speech where I am obviously the best man, Everyone hold your glasses up high, Itty I hope that’s orange juice, Heres to hoping that Schmidt pans out, Heres to hoping that Hayes is actually decent, heres to the future in Memphis, bust most of all heres to braz, and lets all join in this cheers to hope that braz hits CY, Amen.
14) Jazz
Projected Record: 12-70
Team MVP: Nobody
I love greggor, hes such a nice guy, a good gm, but the poor guy has the worst luck in this league, Everytime he makes a move something bad happens. Hopefully he gets the number 1 overall, Utah can use it. Bad.
