Like a phoenix rising out of the ashes... Daedametrics has returned!
Leading off this edition of Daedametrics is the Power Rankings. Formula is derived simply by calculating the difference between Offensive Rating and Defensive Rating. Higher score the better. More on these formulas later!
Magic currently sit on top with a strong lead. Lakers and Bulls round out the top 3. The two LA teams look destined for glory out of the West. The East looks under complete control by the Magic. The Timberwolves end the season with an atrocious -16.020 power rating which according to the ancient records is by far the worst rating of any team in NBADSL history.
Next up is the Team Metrics with Possessions, Offensive Rating, Defensive Rating, True Shooting Percentage, Effective Field Goal Percentage, and Rebounding Percentage listed at the top of the table. The top/bottom three of each category are listed at the bottom of the table.
The East should be fun with a potential #1 offense vs #1 defense matchup between the Magic and Raptors. The Wolves finished worst in every single category. Also an NBADSL Daedametrics first.
Last but not least is the pretty chart. A better description is the overall rating for each team. Your offensive team rating is weighed against your defensive team rating. Upper right means you're above average in both.
Wolves break the chart with their awful efforts this year. Magic similarly look destined to win the title. Scary production.
I hope you enjoyed this statistical analysis of the league. I will gradually add additional formulas, charts, etc throughout the Daedametrics provided they are as popular as they were before I left.
Players Edition will be released once I fix all the formulas which shouldn't take too long.
