1st of all the trade should have been null and voided if it took you over.

There should be only one way you can go over HC and that's signing your team's FAs in the offseason!

I didn't see it in the old CBA where you could go over by trade is all. I've been fucking up by turning down trades that would've took me over HC. All i had to do is waive a cheap contact.

Salaries have to match, so i think 1.5m over is generous.

Salaries have to match, so i think 1.5m over is generous. salaries need to be with in 115% so when your dealing with a big contract trade that could be 3-4 mil easy

I can understand why trades might not be that way, a lot of moving parts and sometimes trades take forever to input (usually when an MLE is involved in such a deal). You also have the 115% rule, so not like you can just add an extra 10 million of cap like you could with waivers. I can say when I was doing things I never really checked cap on trades like I would with waivers.
Though, to play devils advocate to myself, you do get to see the cap both teams have before you make the deal on the same screen. So doing a little math you could figure out if a team is over or under. Of course that's a little more difficult to do when you deal with MLE/LLE.
