1) What are your strengths and weaknesses this season? How can you address weaknesses and further strengthen your strengths?
Bulls: Our strength is our frontcourt. Drob, Nance, and Scott are all great defenders and more than hold their own offensively. Our backups in Shavlick and Drew are solid too. I think a way for us to improve this is to get one more big so that Shavlick isn't our 7th man. He's more suited as a 8th man in my opinion. Our weakness by far is at PG. Walker and Lever would be the backup on most other contenders. Walker is our starter because of his handles, but he still turns the ball over too much and doesn't get a ton of assists. I really would like to get a pure passing point guard that can defend, but it's hard to move anything for one. Walker and Lever both have 2 camps left, so I may try to pump one of them up and see if that can fix our Achilles Heel.
Hornets: My strengths is the good inside presence of Qi with the shot blocking and his scoring as well as the PG play of Oscar Robertson. We are a good 3pt shooting team and pass the ball rather well since we do have Oscar getting 9 APG, Paras with 4 APG, and Qi with 3 APG. Our biggest weakness I would say is scoring consistency from my 2 and 3 Paras can score 23 points a few games and then al of a sudden score only 8 a game or even just 4 still he is a glue guy that can do it all, and Byron Scott is a good scorer who at times can get 20 and then drop to 10 if we can get a consistent 15 PPG from them both we would win a lot more games, the other weak spot for us is the inside defense of Gilliam who is only get a block a game. Addressing the Weaknesses i will probably try to find a player who only specializes in blocks and rebounds to help at Center or slide Qi at center and see what Green can do as a starter. To strengthen my strengths is get a deeper depth I guess.
Cavs: I hate to admit it but our main weakness is that we can't score enough to keep up with the best of them. Both Kareem and Tyonne can't seem to play like the stars that they should be on the offensive end of the floor. Having both of them score under 20 per game just won't cut it in the playoffs. On the other hand, I am fortunate enough to have a deep bench to at least carry the scoring load. Price, MRR, and Yates all have been big contributors for us. I honestly don't know how to better the bench but improving the offense can be done by getting a more competent starting SF. Let's just hope that the trade market will be good to me.
Clippers: Weakness is definitely perimeter defense. Nique was a B- last season but declined in that area in TC. Felton is still a C and Gail is a B-. I've asked around a little bit about trying to improve that, quite specifically Bol Bol, but I don't have the right assets right now it appears. Also having a backup big that can score would be nice, but I only have Bill Russell who is capable of scoring double digits. My strengths would definitely be scoring, with Nique, West, Russell, Felton and Gail they are capable of putting up big points but I didn't surround them with the right complimentary role players this offseason. HC being lowered definitely impacted that. Will look to make major moves right now and in the offseason.
Rockets: Our strength is on the offensive side of the ball. We are good at avoiding so many turnovers, as a team we only average like 9.8 TO per game. (Correct me if I'm wrong) But that is the least amount of turnover per game in the league right now at this moment. I don't think I can strengthen that at all, I'm pretty happy with that very stat. But our weakness is the defense in total. We give up 104 points per game.... Hell we even gave up 160 freaking points to the Lakers, which is pretty embarrassing if I do say so myself. I am not 100% sure how I'll fix it, but I know I will find a way around this mess.
Mavs: We got potent scoring potential – unsurprising for any team with Gar Heard. Rebounding is a strength as well. Our bench is terrible due to HC restrictions. Our defense wasn't too good but it’s getting better. I’m not going to be making any moves due to HC & lack of options, so hopefully I can improve on strengths through DC improvements.
2) With the Wolves currently struggling, do you see them overcoming CY? Do you see Knicks or Spurs missing the playoffs?
Bulls: No I don't see the Wolves recovering. I thought they played with fire last year with the full on tank for Shaq. Maor hasn't had great luck in the drafts, so I thought he should've went for the playoffs last year. Offering for Stanley was also costly. If he could've landed just 1 marquee FA his year could've been different. I think both the Knicks and Spurs make the playoffs. The East is the weakest it's been in years and the Spurs getting Sabonis was huge.
Hornets: I do not see them overcoming the CY unfortunately unless everyone above him lose and the Wolves just have winning sims the rest of the season, just too difficult now. I think both the Knicks and Spurs make the playoffs. The East is the weakest it's been in years and the Spurs getting Sabonis who is an all-star really helped them.
Cavs: With all due respect to super, I don't think that he'll make it pass his CY. Any move he makes will probably be a little too late now. His just unfortunate to be in CY in a year that the West looks to be better than the East. As for the Knicks, their firepower will probably fuel them to the playoffs. Their hot start shows their capabilities. The Spurs will surely make it. They are just playing good basketball right now. Sabonis' timing was too perfect.
Clippers: I don't see the Wolves overcoming CY. Too little too late. Not really a secret, but ever since Rose retired Super has turned from good gm to bad gm. Hasn't had many winning seasons post-Rose so it's going to be interesting to see if he will join back (if he in fact gets CY'd) and take a team and turn it into a winner without using the same players from previous ownership. Spurs I see definitely making it and Knicks I'm kind of on the fence about. They started out hot but definitely started to fizzle out. I kind of thought their hot start was pretty fluky, but this fluky? We'll find out soon. I would start making moves ASAP though, he's definitely in striking distance. Final prediction is Wolves get CY'd, Spurs and Knicks make it (assuming Knicks don't stand pat).
Rockets: The season is not over, we got a bunch of games left, and anything can happen. He better hope his players can stay healthy from here on out, that's his only hope to me at this point. He just gotta feel confident in his DC set up, and maybe make a few moves if something doesn't work. I hope he does win the battle vs his CY overall. Good luck.
Mavs: Unfortunately, I personally do not see the Knicks or Wolves making it past CY as of now. While both teams are decently talented, it’s going to be tough. The Wolves will start winning, but I doubt they’ll be able to keep up a pace that allows them to reach 42. Props to him if they succeed though. The Knicks have a decent chance at getting the 8th seed in a relatively less competitive East this season…but I can see the Celtics giving them trouble there. Perhaps the Knicks could strengthen their rebounding numbers to increase their chances. Spurs are clearly fine barring a significant injury (knock on wood).
3) Is your team playing up to or below expectations?
Bulls: I think below expectations. We were 1 game away from the Finals last year. Everyone returned with Nance and Aguirre getting 2 camps apiece. We are really inconsistent this year and Drob looks to have taken a liking to fouling a lot more this year. If Drob can stop fouling and stay in games, I think we can become more consistent. We also need another backup big because of how foul prone he is this year.
Hornets: My team I would say is currently playing as expected because I think that Byron Scott can not contain other SGs causing a mismatch, We also lose a lot against other teams with dominant big men that Gilliam has trouble defending at times. Our record is because of the defense we don't have. 23-22 makes sense for us.
Cavs: We're falling below the expectations on a defending champion. But I honestly can't blame Tyonne because he's old and he just died in TC. He's actually exceeding expectations of a 35 year old, the way he's playing. My SFs also declined bad in TC so the blame cannot be placed on them. So Kareem will have to shoulder majority of the blame. He's in his prime but is not playing like it. He needs to man up and make sure that we don't leave the promise land so quickly.
Clippers: Below definitely. Which could be my fault for having higher expectations with a bit of a flawed roster but I thought I would at least have a definite playoff spot. The West is actually a lot better than previous years so I guess I kind of took that for granted. But I'm definitely going to look to make some moves, especially if we don't make major improvement ASAP.
Rockets: I would say that my team is playing up to my expectations. I usually do struggle in the beginning of the season for whatever reason, so I expected that. My team usually catch fire from the middle of the season, to the end of the season. I just hope that everyone can stay healthy, especially Rick Barry and Mikan, who were out for my series with the Warriors last season. We still managed to win that somehow, but we can't let that happen again.
Mavs: For some reason we've been surprisingly pretty successful with Steele sitting out (20 games and counting), and I’m not entirely sure if it’s a function of schedule or flukey DC working. We've been around .550 with Steele in, which is disappointing. I expect to take 4th seed in the West, although it’ll be tough.
4) At this point in the season, who is the most surprising team in the league this season? Disappointing?
Bulls: Most disappointing to me is the Wolves. I thought they'd be closer to .500 at this point with all of the moves they made. They're just not clicking. The most surprising is the Rockets. They killed the Grizz and my team and seem to finally be clicking. Their record is good, not great, but I'm surprised at how well they're matching up against other contenders. I think if they're healthy come playoff time they can finally make that deep run.
Hornets: The most disappointing team is the T'Wolves who looked to be a .500 team after trades but are now doomed to not get out of the CY. The most surprising I would have to say is the Spurs due to a big Jump they had from last season and are now 27-18 and are at #3 in the West.
Cavs: Both the Spurs and the Jazz have been surprising. They both came out of nowhere and started winning all these games on their way to the number 3 and 4 seeds respectively. The Bucks at 4 is also surprising. The Atlantic Division as a whole, led by the Magic, have been disappointing. I honestly don't think that any of the teams from that division deserve to be in the playoffs right now.
Clippers: Spurs and Jazz for me. Spurs in CY have really put a nice team out there and Sabonis looks like a definite player in this league. Jazz kind of came out of nowhere. Looking at their roster nobody really wow's you but they get the W's which is all that matters. Surprising that a team scoring 99 ppg and giving up 100 ppg is 26-18 but they are. Time will tell if they can keep it up, or are just in a bit of a hot streak. I would expect them to end in about the same position they are in now. 6 or 7 seed.
Rockets: The most surprising team to me is the Spurs, they really came out of no where. They weren't a team that I expected to be up on the top of the western conference, but hey I guess anyone could in that crap conference (jk). But in all seriousness Spurs look good this season, they just gotta hope their team keeps clicking until the playoffs. Most disappointing is the T'Wolves. I thought they could've been at least been in the playoff picture by now, with all the moves they have made. BUt hey the season isn't over like I said, just gotta keep on grinding and stay healthy.
Mavs: Wolves are disappointing obviously as they’re at the bottom of the league. Magic had the potential & framework to be much higher than 18-20. I can't believe the Kings are still sticking around at 20-13, which 3rd highest win % in the West. Jazz have also been surprisingly good.
5) What is the most important position in FBB? Does that change with the influx of elite bigs entering the league?
Bulls: I think it depends. It used to be PG with how overpowered they were. Then the shift with Embiid and Davis coincided with the decline in PG talent and made C/PF more important. I think right now we are at the point where there's going to be a lot of good big men, and then slowly but surely an elite PG or 2 in the drafts. I think like in real life the game evolves and we are seeing that here too. With the past being a slower post game, and the future being faster with an emphasis on guard play.
Hornets: Well the most important is having a really good PG on your team but it could look to be that the need of having a really excellent big is crucial now that we see Shaq, D-Rob, Ewing, Qi, Sabonis, and Hakeem becoming faces of their franchises.
Cavs: Despite the amount of great bigs right now in the league, I still believe that PG is still the most important position in the game. A great PG can make an average team a good one. I don't think a big man has that much impact. Look at the Raps and the Lake Show. They don't have the best bigs but their PGs are really good.
Clippers: I feel like a dominant big is the most important position in FBB in this league right now. It used to be PG but with D-Rob, Kareem, Moses, and Hakeem, Shaq, Qi, Ewing and Sabonis on the rise it looks like a lot of teams will have dominant bigs. I think the exception would be if you have a top 2 or 3 PG. If you have a guy like Earl Monroe out there you don't really need a dominant big, just a decent supporting cast.
Rockets: I would say the PG is the most important position in my opinion. From what I've leaned and heard they were, and I can see how that's true. For example, when Barry or Mikan got injured for me, I was still winning games. But if it was my PG (Tyus Battle) I'm sure I'd be losing more games, heck I would have probably lost to the warriors in that series last season if I had Tyus injured. I guess you could say that it would be like a football team without their QB.
Mavs: Haha this question assumes the answer to the first question will be PG. Even with the influx of elite bigs I think it’s still the best bet. Good PGs can carry weaker teams a lot better than bigs.
6) Who do you expect will blow up in TC next year? Who do you expect to die?
Bulls: Shaq should blow up next year. He looks awesome right now and from everything I've heard he usually kills it in sim leagues. I think Malone will finally die and rid this league of his cheating ways. Fuck him.
Hornets: I expect Shaq to blow up into a A- in his best attributes, I expect Tyonne Malone to go down in his TC since he is beyond way beyond his prime.
Cavs: I'm gonna be a homer and say that Price will finally prove his worth after the next TC. On the flip side, Free will probably decline big time. He's as old as Tyonne so it's probably coming.
Clippers: Shaq is my best bet, I really feel like he's going to kill this league and could make a case for the most dominating big to come through this league. Already putting his stamp on the league as a rookie averaging 19 and 11. I expect (or hope) Tyonne Malone to finally die in the next TC. Already declined last TC and I think next year might be his last in this league.
Rockets: I'm pretty sure that Shaq will blow up next season, I'm just happy that he's in the east, so us west folks won't have to deal with him lol. And I expect my 2 old players from my team to die, Tyus Battle and Junior Bridgman, but hey I'm trying to make them last as long as possible.
‘
Mavs: Shaq, as previously mentioned by the others. James Cole also looks like he’s in for a nice TC. Expecting a lot of old guys to die - Steele for example, unfortunately. I’ve been waiting for Tyus Battle to die actually, even though his ratings have gone down a lot, he’s still getting good stats.
7) Pick the Conference Finals and Championship teams. Who takes it home?
Bulls: Cavs vs. Raptors and Grizz vs. Rockets. Raptors vs. Grizz with Raptors winning in 6. Raptors finally get rewarded for keeping their core together.
Hornets: Bulls vs. Raptors and Grizzlies vs. Rockets. Raptors vs. Grizz with Raptors winning in 7.
Cavs: Raps vs Bulls and Lakers vs Grizz with tyfreak beating getbeard in the finals. East>West.
Clippers: Lakers vs. Grizz and Bulls vs. Raptors with Grizz and Bulls moving on. Got Grizz winning it all, I think MJ will make that push to start winning multiple championships.
Rockets: ECF: Raptors beat out the bulls in 7 games (another classic series) and I'll be 100% biased and say Rockets beat the Grizz in 7 games.... then I'll finally get to kick my buddy tyfreak ass, and beat them in 6 games hahaha
Mavs: West: Lakers – Grizz, East: Raptors – Cavs; I think it’s Monroe’s year so I’ll go with Lakers winning it all.
8) For those who follow Football, how has your team's off season gone thus far?
Bulls: The 49ers suck and Jed York and Baalke are going to put the team back into the depressing Post-Jeff Garcia/Terrel Owens years. Undermining Harbaugh was pathetic. Willis retiring was heartbreaking and Borland was surprising. They are making asinine signings with Reggie Bush and the random DBs. Losing Culliver sucks. Cox was a solid DB, too. It just sucks overall. I have no faith in them this year and just embrace the suck and don't pretend like they can win. No one wants a 6-10 record. Go for the 2-14.
Hornets: Eh do not follow Football much.... so um yeah..... IDK.
Cavs: Are we talking about the real football (soccer)? I doubt it so I'll just leave this blank.
Clippers: Falcons have had a good, under the radar type of off-season so far. With Dan Quinn implementing his system we needed some type of pass rush to compliment our great young corners. Adrian Clayborn, O'Brien Schofield, Justin Durant, Brooks Reed are upgrades from what we had last year for sure. Add to that a pass rusher at #8 we will draft (Beasley, Fowler or Ray) and I believe we can have an average defense to finally compliment our great offense. Love the Kyle Shanahan hire as well, I feel like Devonta Freeman will have a really big year in the zone blocking scheme.
Rockets: I'm a niners fan... Borland retired, Willis Retired, Gore left, Chase Thomas tore his ACL, Mike Iupati left, We sign some guy named Pears, and uhhh I might be missing s few thing...but other than that we're having a great off season lol. Nah but they did sign Torrey Smith and Dockett, which is pretty good. Just hope to have a solid draft class
Mavs: Bears suck, idk what they are doing
Bulls: Our strength is our frontcourt. Drob, Nance, and Scott are all great defenders and more than hold their own offensively. Our backups in Shavlick and Drew are solid too. I think a way for us to improve this is to get one more big so that Shavlick isn't our 7th man. He's more suited as a 8th man in my opinion. Our weakness by far is at PG. will this be the T'wolves fan base reactions if super can beat his CY? Or the opposite?...

Shaq as seen as the clear favorite to breakout
