This seemed like a fun article since I've been CY'd myself and know how fucking frustrating that last season is when you can't win two games in a row. But it's fun to watch from the outside. And Super hasn't shown that he will give up until the fat lady finally starts singing.
The Wolves recently made some moves to bring in Magic, Dr. J and Doug West and have an entirely new looking squad. But they didn't fare well in their last sim. Maybe a DC change will help. But how fucked up is their situation actually?
Wolves are 15-31 and 9 games back of 8th seed Phoenix. The Wolves will not win the 42 games required to avoid CY. If they manage to survive it will be by squeaking into the playoffs with something like a 39-43 record, which would be a spectacular 24-12 run to finish the season. The Jazz in the 7th seed are basically out of reach at 28-22, so it's all about catching Phoenix who would have to play miserable ball the rest of the way, and they also need Nugs and Clippers to go a bit below .500 the rest of the way, Nugs are 23-23, Clippers 24-25.
Here's their next 13 games. The teams above .600 are bolded in red.
72 Timberwolves (supermaor23) @ Bulls (bloop)
73 Timberwolves (supermaor23) @ Lakers (getbeard)
74 Lakers (getbeard) @ Timberwolves (supermaor23)
75 Timberwolves (supermaor23) @ Pistons (walker)
77 Timberwolves (supermaor23) @ Lakers (getbeard)
78 Timberwolves (supermaor23) @ Grizzlies (Brazilian)
80 Lakers (getbeard) @ Timberwolves (supermaor23)
81 Rockets (lakers209) @ Timberwolves (supermaor23)
82 Knicks (crazgyguy) @ Timberwolves (supermaor23)
83 Timberwolves (supermaor23) @ 76ers (ROTY)
84 Timberwolves (supermaor23) @ Cavaliers (entrapy)
85 Timberwolves (supermaor23) @ Mavericks (swish)
86 Timberwolves (supermaor23) @ Raptors (tyfreak)
Yep, you saw that right. 10 of their next 13 games, and the next 8 in a fucking row, are against the best of the best in NBADSL. So basically what this means is that the Wolves are indeed done. It's over. Trading picks to acquire talent at this point would be meaningless since there's no chance of even going .500 over this stretch, let alone making the playoffs this year.
So the next question is, what happens next? Does Super get kicked out of the league for atleast one year and someone else gets a chance to run the Wolves?
Does Super get to keep his team since he's an OG manager and pretty active?
Here's what my vote would be - the exact same thing that happened to me. Another GM was given a chance to run the Nugs, and once they weren't very active or whatever, I got my team back. So I would propose the exact same thing happens with Super, and the GM that gets the Wolves is someone very likely to fail, someone nobody expects anything from, the one and only...
Boogie. Let the dude run the Wolves, he'll fuck up, and Super will get his team back, and the curtains will be closed forever on Boogie. Or Boogie will prove himself worthy and Super can get another team, which will surely open up (Nugs might even be open after next year's potential CY). That's what I would personally vote even though I know it's crazy unlikely.
RIP Wolves
