Out of these three, who do you depend on most? Sene, Lopez, or Prince?

Do you believe your team is facing issues on the offensive side of the ball giving that your team is only scoring 91.6ppg? However your defense is holding teams to an impressive 91.6ppg. It seems one or the other needs to fluctuate to deem success instead of being a .500 ball club. I don't think of us as a .500 ballclub... nor do I think of us as being "offensively challenged". Those results/stats are for the entire season - and we started horrifically. So bad that I was considering throwing the towel in. Actually... I did (even copped a warning from Flip for being TOO OBVIOUS on the tank!), but what I thought would be a bad DC included playing "slow" - which apparently is what Indiana needed. We've progressed since then, and whilst we've had some up and down sims, improvement's there. I *believe* the points'll come... and the defense'll stay where it is. 60

Out of these three, who do you depend on most? Sene, Lopez, or Prince? Hmmmm... that is difficult I'll probably go with Mouhamed Sene. Prince is older. Lopez and Sene are the same age. Mouhamed is a marginally better player at this point in time than RoLo... but their real strength is as a tandem, and I'd go as far as saying that they're the best big man pairing under the age of 25 in the league. I envisage both of them being a veritable wall for Indiana for the foreseeable future. 61

How much of an impact is SENE on this team? Would your team be as successful if he were to get injured?

How much of an impact is SENE on this team? Would your team be as successful if he were to get injured? Well... I think defensively it'd be a negative - but last season when he did get injured, Viktor Sanikidze was a more than able replacement. Sanikidze is a better player offensively - so that's an improvement, and given all my key players are either completely camped (Parker, Pietrus, Sene, Lopez) or too old to camp (Prince) - he'll be the recipient of a lot of work soon too. One of the things we DO have in our favor is our depth. 62

Do you see your team regaining its elite form that it possessed last season? I'm hopeful... and if I do, it'll be at the pointy end of the season - which'll be nice... but it will be difficult to do. Last season clicked so perfectly, I'm hopeful that I can replicate it - the talent's obviously there... but I have to get the chemistry juuuuuuuuuust right. 63

maliceWith a projected decent number of some cap space in this offseason, are there any moves you are looking to make? Well... that will depend on Tayshaun Prince, and who's available. Should there be a player that we particularly like - we're going to make a move... but we'll be fairly picky. It'll only be someone we feel who can fit within our "team first" environment. Careful cap management has put us in a good position - don't expect Indiana to jeopardize that. 64

your team was #1 in OPPG, OFG% and O3PG% this season, however, Offensively your team was 27th in your own PPG and only slightly better in FG% (though you were 4th in the league in 3p%)
what do you feel needs to be done to improve that offense while maintaining that brilliant defense the Pacers have played all season?

It's becoming evident that perhaps we need a 3rd option scoring. The guys on the floor simply don't have enough points in them, behind Parker/Pietrus. Now, what form that's going to take, well... that's the question, isn't it? I'm definitely more open to offers for say... Prince (on an amazingly good contract!) than I was a season ago! That may well mean a bit of a dip in D... but something's gotta give. 65

Going into next season, are you AFRAID of the Miami Heat's vastly underrated squad bringing the pain to the East, or do you see the Pacers being a contender and not a pretender?

Going into next season, are you AFRAID of the Miami Heat's vastly underrated squad bringing the pain to the East, or do you see the Pacers being a contender and not a pretender? OUCH! I don't think the Heat's squad is underrated, I do think that you benefitted from SRG's efforts largely - but that is not your fault. You were indeed wise enough to do so, when a lot of GMs who take over a team seem to have a need to immediately trade every decent player they have. Kudos to you for not doing so, and you (I thought) deservedly won - given the playoff scenario (I thought the Magic were the best team... but the Marion injury torpedoed that). As to the Pacers being a "contender/pretender"... well, as one of only TWO teams never to have been on a CY-worthy year (fewer than 42 wins), I don't think the "pretender" label is appropriate. And whilst we were knocked out in the first round, that was the same roster that was probably the best team in the league the season before... however we suffered a fate redolent of that of Orlando - and had Tony Parker (MVP that season) with a season-ending injury in the last sim of the season. So... Given the youth of our squad, I am praying for a good TC. Steady improvement should ensure that we're - again - in contention. 66

What would you say is your teams biggest strength that has equated to becoming the #7 seed?

What is your plan for this season and then your plan moving forward. Are any of your current players potential corner stones for the team 5 years down the road Well... I tried to go the "strong def" path, and unfortunately, it failed miserably. The only way to succeed with 2 primary scorers is for one of them to have a MVP-level year. Which happened 2 seasons ago, but then Parker went down with an injury for the playoffs. Tony Parker is obviously going to be a bit long in the tooth in 5 years time, but will still be playing at a high level... But Sene's young, and already at the age of 24 has two All D team (2nd team) notches in his belt. He could well be a key player on our team. If RoLo chooses to re-sign, same. I don't think they'll be huge offensive components of any team - but EVERY team can use a cornerstone in the form of an All D kinda big... and both have that potential. 67

what kind of contract do you think Pietrus would get on the open market? I guess we're gonna find out, huh? Very few players have elite D, and elite scoring... and he's verging on that. There are a lot of damn good players available on the market next FA class... and someone's going to offer him top dollar. He might choose to stay with the Pacers, he might not. We're hoping for the former. 68

What would you say is your teams biggest strength that has equated to becoming the #7 seed? I think that "becoming the #7 seed" is a failure on my part to get the DC right... or it might just be an indication that we lack the scoring punch necessary to compete at the top level. I don't look at our current position as any "display of strength"... given the history this franchise has enjoyed. If I had to point to any form of perceived strength, I would guess it would be the rim protection that RoLo & Sene provide. 69

Do you think Tony Parker has it in him to repeat his brilliant MVP season? His production is still near AS levels, but it has gone down since then.

We've cleared enough cap space to be a player in this off-season, and there are several players available who can make an impact inside. Additionally, moves have freed up more court time for Dwayne Collins - we'll be eager to see how he does with more opportunity. 70

He played with a joy in his MVP season, but it was sad the way that season ended. I think Tony simply needs a better supporting cast... so that he can have more confidence in the team's ability to score. He's still young by FBB standards... or at least, not old. 71

seems like Indiana was in the same position they were in last season (as a lower seed) however last year I believe you got knocked out in the 1st round, this season the Pacers went all the way to the conference finals, what do you think helped you get as far as you did this year as opposed to last year?

You're quite correct. I guess it's a simple answer, but getting the DC that worked - and switching Sene to center, and Dwayne Collins onto the court. Whilst Collins isn't the player RoLo is - he's more active offensively - and that's what the team needed. And... a bit of luck. Orlando being without TWO power forwards certainly helped our cause. 72

Will Teague be a good enough successor to Parker ? Hard to say: just drafted him... With that in mind, it'll be interesting to watch his development. Drafting a guy at #17, it's a real dice roll to see if he's worth it or not. But recently, the team's had better production out of a second rounder (Collins) than we have out of a first rounder (Brooks). So it can happen. Given where we were drafting, it was either Teague... or Austin Rivers. Fingers are firmly crossed here, because TP can't play forever. 73
