TEAM DAEDAMETRICS
Leading off this edition of Daedametrics is the Power Rankings. Formula is derived simply by calculating the difference between Offensive Rating and Defensive Rating. Higher score the better.
Pacers are the cream of the crop using this method and by a decent margin. Should be interesting to compare this to the EWP table below. The other end of the spectrum looks like a two horse race: The Mavericks and Pistons are statistically far worse than any other team in the league.
The Expected Win Percentage table (EWP) predicts winning percentages via Points for and Points against.
The tops of both conferences look very strong however the bottom end of the East looks to have playoff teams with losing records which is never a good indicator of parity.
Next up is the Team Metrics with Possessions, Offensive Rating, Defensive Rating, True Shooting Percentage, Effective Field Goal Percentage, and Rebounding Percentage listed at the top of the table. The top/bottom three of each category are listed at the bottom of the table.
The Pacers have the interesting line of being the 2nd fastest pace team in the league while being 2nd best defensively. An odd combo to say the least given the correlation between scoring and possessions. The Mavericks are struggling mightily in pretty much every team statistic. Going to be a long year for them.
The pretty chart is going into temporary retirement due to glitches that came about with new GMs taking over. I will take a long look at it before the next edition and hopefully have it working again.
PLAYER DAEDAMETRICS
Kicking off the Player edition of Daedametrics is the individual leaders for each category:
CP3 is already a GOD in this league and the arrow is pointing straight up for him. He's having a PHENOMENAL year.
Individual leaders are nice. Team leaders are even better. Enjoy:
Amare and KG are soon going to have blown out knees if they continue getting this much usage.
Your eyes do not deceive you. Magloire is the #1 PER rated Center in the league and top 10 in rebounding percentage. Repeatedly cast off and under appreciated Jamaal is having an excellent season.
Congratulations to all the players receiving accolades!
