This article is going to be taking a look at some of the best players who get high production for the money the Gm is paying. I will not look at players on rookie deals because a lot of rookie deal players obviously perform well.
1.Kenny Mcintosh- PF Golden State Warriors
Contract $1,000,000 3 years remaining
Who the fuck is this guy? I had to ask myself the same thing when I clicked on GS roster. A second round pick a few years ago, now at age 26 has decent ratings but is currently putting up 17 points and 9.8 rebounds per game, he ever is getting nearly two blocks. Last season he flew under the radar with 12.6 and 11.3 with this warriors team. Not the sexiest player but definitely more then worth the money. For fuck sake he makes less then LLE.
2. Gus Williams PG/SG Miami Heat
Contract- $7,000,000 2 years left
Gus willaims’ stats have sort of come back to earth this season but it is probably because of the increase in stat prodocution everywhere else in Miami. Gus currently is getting 14 points 6 dimes and shooting over 50%. Last few seasons he really earned his contract averaging 21, 24 and 20 points with good assist and rebound numbers.
3. Ben Simmons- SF Memphis Grizzlies
Contract $11,596,480 2 years left
This guy is who inspired me to write this article. He is currently putting up 25.9 ppg 6.8 boards, 3.1 boards as the Griz third option. He is no doubt a player on this list who would receive a max contact. Shooting very efficiently and playing the best defense of his career while being paid about 8 mil less annually then he should be nets Simmons son the list.
4. Isaiah Hicks- SF Charlotte Hornets
Contract- $9,000,000 5 years left
Hicks is a good inside scorer and a solid defender. He is currently entering the prime of his career at age 29 and has never gotten much recognition. He once won 6th man of the year and is not getting his chance to show his value. Last year he averged 20.4 ppg and 8.6 rebs and it seems that through ten games this year he is earning that still with 18.5/9.9 efforts.
5. Marques Johnson- SG/SF Utah Jazz
Contract- $5,500,000 2 years left
Another Jazz player to make the list, Johnson was taken early and took a while to develop. Because of this development he didn’t force himself into a max deal after his rookie contract. However each season is getting better for him. Last year he averaged 19.3 ppg and 8 boards and this season he seems to be on pace to repeat those type of numbers.
6. Jackie Moreland- SF OKC Thunder
Contract $4,070,000 4 years left
One of the sole bright spots from the era of MR Clubz. Jackie Moreland plays above his contract and far above his ratings. He or she is currently getting 22.5 PPG 7.4 boards shootinh 40% from deep. At age 26 there is a lot more good basketball for Jackie. If those ratings could improve he could finish as a top discount player in the league. However it can not be ignored this team sucks, Jackie still has averaged 13.9 for his career.
7.Yilden Mendoza- PF Utah Jazz
Contract- $5,450,000
Yilden could be regarded a draft bust after being taken years ago really early on by the Hawks. But he has developed into a solid player. This season he has averaged 13 points 11 boards but the big number for him is his three blocks per game. At 31 there may never be that huge contract for him but he deserves to be acknowledged now.
8.Larry Steele- PF Dallas Mavericks
Contract- $6,600,000 3 years left
Larry so far this season through 14 games is really helping his team. He is averaging 16.8 and 13.1 shooting efficient percentages. Steele was probably not expected to do so much since he only did 11 and 11 last year but it seems steele is here to stay, a night in night out double double machne.
(did not think this guy was white)
9. Aaron Harrison- PG Washington Wizards
Contract- $7,000,000 2 years left
The other Harrison twin has turned into a better player then most of us expected. He has put up a solid career as late and this year is averaging 18.4 ppg and 6.6 dimes while sharing PG min with Trey Burke. Harrison had his best season last year with a 20/6/5 line.
10. BeeJay Anya- C Orlando Magic
Contract $4,500,000 3 years left
Beejay freaks me out because how he spells his name a little bit but he is in the same boat as Steele. He is making about an MLE but is playing a key role in a teams success. This year he has 10 points 12 boards and 3 blocks per game. These numbers are a huge jump from his previous career stats so I guess we will see if these last.
11. Johny Moore PG Boston Celtics
Contract- $4,967,913 three years left
This guy is only making the list based off of his short window of statistics from this season. If he can continue 75% of this production he could be one of the top contracts in the league. Boasting 20.2 PPG 11.8 dimes on 54% from the field the fourth year player is finally starting to come into his own, however it is hard to overlook his 5.9 PPG from last season.
Honorable mention
Robert Parish-C Nets- 13.5ppg/11.4 boards for $10,890,000 3 years left
Bernard King- SG LA Clippers- 19.7/7.8 for $12,420,955
Udoka Azubiuke- C- Raptors 13 points 12.6 boards 3.5 blocks $12,000,000 2years left
Jim Cleamons – PG- Raptors 18.5ppg/8 dimes 3.8 turn overs $11,447,638 4 years left
