The Trade That Changed the League
Once upon a time there was a really bad GM named eastdog from 2009 to 2015 he plagued the fans of Golden State with many losses. One season while trying to win he even put up 14 wins for the entire season. It was said that Golden State is where dreams go to die. EastDog would make constant trades that put him into question as a GM but there was one trade that put things over the top and actually led to him being exiled from NBADSL…. The Trade That Changed the League.
Warrior fans During eastdog's reign
After a fucking pathetic 2015 season which surprisingly was not EastDog’s worst he won the lotto after being projected one overall. This pick was in one of the most important years because every GM was trying to tank for Andrew Wiggins. The Warrior fans were so happy because of this and dreamed for their first winning season in many years and their savior just as Cleveland fans dreamed for Lebron to come home. But not too fast warriors fans! Eastdog would soon find a way to try and make his team “better”. He posted a block early that morning putting the #1 pick up for sale so that he could gain assets to build a better team that would contend for the playoffs.
Before even hearing offers from other teams (I know this because I woke up at like 10 am and offered but the pick was already delt) He moved the number one pick to the Lakers for pick 9 in that draft which netted him Super athletic but not much more Chris Walker, all time role player Jared Sullenger and Shabazz Muhammad who actually became pretty decent. The quote of the trade was “I think I gave up too much, but oh well” – Getbeard. This trade truly changed the landscape of the league.

This trade led to first off Eastdog being fired shortly after. With new GM in town that meant the players he just netted for wiggins were all up for grabs rendering the trade completely useless. The Lakers because of wiggins his rookie year went from a 33-49 record to a record of 47-35 which was the most wins getbeard ever had as a GM at that time. I’m sure beard had to put some pieces around wiggins that year but its obvious he was a huge catalyst in carrying the team.
And then the next domino fell….
After a decent season from YI I figured why not. Offered EastDog Yi and 100$ for Chris walker who he just traded wiggins for. Eastdog was super confident this was the right move. So confident he stated
:
“Yeah I know I just drafted walker but I need a starting sf and walker wouldn't have gotten much playing time behind curry gasol sully and t murph so yeah this completes my starting 5
Rubio/shabazz/yi/gasol/curry with a bench of jennings murphy and sullinger (a clear dream team to say the least)
. If you have any problems with this trade please write it down on a piece of paper fold it neatly and shove it straight up your ass
-Good day.” -eastdog This trade was later veto’d as Eastdog as fired. Not too surprised lol.
The landslide continued when ducksruleall made a move post Eastdog to better his team. He moved Chris Walker out to the bucks to former GM comish. This seems like a small and fair move but it 100% changed the landscape of the league because of what fell next.

Soon after this trade commish got mad and lost interest in the league so stepped in daedalus who used one of those pieces from the Original Wiggins deal to make his strike. itnas123 who is infatuated with athletism in players decided to sell his entire team to he bucks. The main asset he got back in return was…none other then Chris Walker. Because of this trade the Bucks dominated the league with a core of Macvan, Kane and It2 for several seasons and even one a championship in 2020.

And so it went on, the next move in the wake of the Wiggins trade was Shabazz taking his game to Memphis. The grizzlies traded Ben Mclemore for Shabazz. Shabazz did not spend much time in Memphis, not even a sim but was flipped to Utah for a cornerstone of the Memphis championship team, Andre Drummond. If not for the grizzlies getting Drummond and him resigning with great ratings and him resigning on 8 mil a year they would not have been able to afford the supporting cast for that ring in 2006 with a 4-0 sweep of the pacers.

Because of this trade the Laker squad had a long 8 season span of western dominance. With wiggins as the cornerstone anything was possible. It even led to getbeard winning his ring in 2018 following his 61 win season. No discredit to getbeard for surrounding Wiggins with decent role players but its obvious by Wiggins’ playoff numbers that he is the real deal in the clutch.
The last piece to fall, indirectly to the Wiggins trade was what triggered a cluster of big moves in NYC to gain a ring. After so much winning Laker’s GM getbeard got tired of the same thing and wanted change which made him want to rebuild dealing Wiggins to the Knicks. This was one of the big reasons along with other moves that led to the knicks winning a championship.
So I will now give a little recap of what hypothetically would have happened if Eastdog just kept Wiggins.
- The Lakers would still suck and would not have a title
- The Bucks would not have had Macvan and subsequently IT2 to win their championship
- The Grizzlies would have never had Drummond or both of their championships
- The Knicks would not have been able to obtain wiggins for such a cheap price due to Getbeard wanting a rebuild
- The warriors would have multiple rings?
I am sure many other trades that changed the league spured up because of this deal but it is clear to see how much happened because of one poor gm. So Gm's before you make your next move... think... DO YOU WANT TO BE EAST DOG?
