Most of the players who have dominated this league are now past their prime. There's alot of up and coming talent that hasn't quite reached their prime. Then there's the guy who are currently ripping up the league. Some guys have kind of snuck up out of nowhere. Some have been doing it for a few years. Here's the top ten current players in my opinion. It's really close at the top, 1-5 could be in any order depending who you're asking.
1. Nikola Mirotic – Hawks
B A- C- A- B+ C
29.5 ppg / 13.0 rpg / 3.2 apg / 1.7 spg / 3.9 bpg / 2.7 tpg / .445 fg% / .346 3p%
Mirotic is a 6'10 236 beast that is ripping up the SF position. The numbers are there and the A- defense is there. He's leading the league in blocks per game. Any time your SF is putting up prime Shaq numbers while shutting down SFs it's probably a good thing. Imagine if that 3p% was at 40+. Hawks are 44-19 at the moment led by Mirotic.
2. Andrew Wiggins – Lakers
B A- C- A- C C
31.0 ppg / 7.2 rpg / 2.4 apg / 1.6 spg / 1.2 bpg / 1.7tpg / .463 fg% / .359 3p%
Wiggins is a monster right now. He's playing SF going into the playoffs next to Roy but he was at SG earlier in the year. He ripped down 7 boards and torched people for 31. He's easily one of the best in the league at only 25. Mirotic has a rebounding and size advantage. Wiggins turns it over less. I have Mirotic a little bit above Wiggins for right now.
3. Paul George – Knicks
B+ A- C- A- C C
31.9 ppg / 7.0 rpg / 2.5 apg / 1.5 spg / 1.3 bpg / 1.9 tpg / .460 fg% / .436 3p%
George quiety got really good over the last couple seasons. He's playing A- defense while dropping MVP numbers on a 45-22 squad. That B+ A- offense just looks so nice. The Knicks don't have too many weapons on offense but still drop 100 a game because of this monster.
4. Anthony Davis – Grizzlies
A- C- D+ A B C
25.8 ppg / 11.2 rpg / 2.0 apg / 1.3 spg / 2.1 bpg / 2.0 tpg / .465 fg% / .686 ft%
Davis' numbers aren't as rediculous as they were last season on the Thunder but the dude is top 5 for sure at 28 years old. There's a case for him being the best because of his A defense. That has crazy value. Because of his B rebounding I don't have him that high. 4th seems about right. 26 ppg on good efficiency from a PF that plays elite D isn't easy to find. He leads the league getting the the stripe over 10 times a game.
5. DeAndre Kane – Bucks
B A C A- D+ C
32.1 ppg / 5.0 rpg / 3.4 apg / 1.6 spg / 1.6 tpg / .467 fg% / .892 ft% / .444 3p%
Kane is leading the league in scoring and doing it on great efficiency while playing A- defense as well. The rest of his game isn't quite as good as some of the other guys. He only has D+ rebounding. He isn't as physically imposing at 6'5 200, but his offense is elite. He gets to the line 7 times a game where he's automatic. 44% from deep. This guy blew up.
6. Jabari Parker – Magic
B A- C A- C+ B
30.3 ppg / 7.1 rpg / 2.8 apg / 1.5 spg / 3.1 tpg / .464 fg% / .398 3p%
Jabari is damn good right now. The only flaws in his game are no shot blocking at all and he's turning the ball over a shitload. Other than that he's legit. The scary thing is he's only 25 and still showing B potential, so it looks like he might take over as the best in the league at some point down the road. If that 3p% gets up to mid 40s and the turnovers come down it's over.
7. Dwight Howard – Suns
A- D C- A- A- C
22.2 ppg / 11.7 rpg / 3.0 apg / 1.2 spg / 3.4 bpg / 2.7 tpg / .461 fg% / .554 ft%
Howard's been really good for a long time. There aren't that many elite bigs right now which makes Howard even more valuable. He's 34 years old but his numbers are still there. 5 steals+blocks has incredible value to go with his all around game. He does turn it over alot which hurts. Suns are solid at 39-33 right now led by Dwight and sitting 4th in the West.
8. Harrison Barnes – Cavaliers
B- A- C- A- C C
26.1 ppg / 7.0 rpg / 2.2 apg / 1.8 spg / 1.7 tpg / .459 fg% / .812 ft% / .418 3p%
Barnes has found his 3 point stroke the last couple years and looks really nice at 27. He's 6'9 228, great size for a SG and he's living up to that big contract right now. Kyrie is their only other legit scoring option and they're still above .500 at the moment, led by Barnes.
9. Andre Drummond – Grizzlies
A- D+ C- A- A- B
22.6 ppg / 11.8 rpg / 2.2 apg / 0.8 spg / 2.8 bpg / 1.8 tpg / .483 fg% / .591 ft%
Drummond finally took that step up into dropping 20+ playing in the right DC and looks amazing. He's shooting 48% which is unheard of for a big that scores alot in this league. He's turning it over under twice a game. Almost 60% from the stripe which isn't that bad for a C. The Grizz are 36-30 without having much SG or SF production because of Drummond and Davis both going beast.
10. Milan Macvan – Bucks
C+ A- D+ A- C+ C
21.9 ppg / 12.4 rpg / 1.5 apg / 1.1 spg / 3.1 bpg / 1.9 tpg / .477 fg% / .512 3p%
A 6'11 268 pound PF that can shoot it from deep. He only has C+ rebounding but his size helps make up for it, along with the Bucks amazing D and their pace which inflates his numbers a tad. He's not really a massive volume scorer this year, but the 22 he does put up are on 48% shooting and over 50% from deep, top in the league.
