We are finally at the ASW and the once mighty and powerful East is becoming more and more interesting. I am going to break down the team performances and evaluate if they can keep it up.
It's all opinion, don't be butt hurt now.
1. Milwaukee Bucks (34-7)
What can you say about the Bucks? They’ve been dominating the East for years now and with their big 3 locked up for years to come, we may have to get used to seeing them in 1st. Surprisingly with that record, they’ve been injury plagued. Three 20+ scorers on this team and there surely a favorite to win it all. Projection: 60-22
2. New York Knicks (28-15)
This team is surely interesting. 9-1 in their last 10 games and have made multiple moves to strengthen their offense. Harrell, Embiid, Burke and George is a force to be reckoned with. This squad should definitely be feared come playoff time. Projected: 54-28
3. Chicago Bulls (29-10)
This could be the last year the Bulls will have this mighty core of MCW, King, Newman, Vonleh, Turner and Newman! This is simply there year to shine. They won’t be able to keep all these players, especially if King hits bloop with the max deal at the end of the season a strong defense and an even stronger offense, the Bulls will finish towards the top this season. Projected: 52-30
4. Atlanta Hawks (27-11)
When you think of the Hawks, you think of a racist GM. Oh, were talking about Banaak. Anyway, when you think of the Hawks, you think, “Mirotic-land.” Surely so, Mirotic is carrying this team to unparalleled heights and all they do is win. Other than him, the random ass Willie Warren went from 8ppg to a whopping 22ppg in one season! That is crazy. Comeback of the year candidate though? Projected: 50-32
5. 76ers (20-16)
Now this team doesn’t make sense at all. For some reason, they just keep on winning. You can’t knock on a stud like Curry, but other than that, they’re a pretty old team on their last legs. Also, this team has stayed practically the same since Saric9 has been in the league. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it I suppose. Projected: 47-35
6. Orlando Magic (21-17)
GM shortyman has been frantically trying to repair this team and get them out of mediocrity. Somehow, he flipped a subpar Zeller for Favors, who is a stud on a questionable contract (who cares tho, right?). Favors, Lawson and Parker is a core to fear, as they have the potential to all put up 20ppg on the daily. They could be a sleeper team if a particular DC works for them. Watch out, cause there’s Magic afoot. Projected: 46-36
7. Pistons (21-19)
AD, AD, AD. That’s pretty much it other than some help from Dantley and McLaughlin. I’m not sure if this team has what it takes to stay afloat in the competitive east. So far, there doing a decent job, but I had AD before and I know he cannot carry a team to the promise land. I don’t think any big man can, to be honest. Projected: 42-42
8. Celtics (21-19)
A relatively young team, the Celtics are in for the hunt, but the question is, can they sustain this level of play? Statistics show that they in-fact give up more ppg than actually scoring, but they do have a strong core with potential. If the Celtics can find a better DC, I think they have a good chance to fight for the final spots in the east. Projected: 43-41
9. Cavaliers (21-20)
Kyrie Irving and Harrison Barnes make up an impressive guard combo, but there big men aren’t nearly as good. Teams with a good inside presence should bully them. There inside defense is pretty good, but they can’t score to save their lives. If the Cavs can find some balance, I can see them fight for the final spots in the East. Projected: 41-43
10. Heat (19-22)
After trading away tons of youth to get the Turtle, KD and Westbrook are united and ready to cause havoc to the East. The issue is, they do not have much help. Gus Williams has proven that he can ball, but he is only a rookie, and Okafor seems to have not fully developed yet. The Heat’s chances to make the playoffs are slim, but they’re a win streak away from being right in the hunt. Projected 42-42
11. Hornets (15-22)
Bernard King is the only player to keep the Hornets relevant. Zach Lavine also seems to be growing into a solid player. However, they do not have much help. There big men are way too overpaid to be playing the mediocre basketball there playing. If Bynum and Walker get off the wads of cash under their bums, then the Hornets have a chance to battle for a final seed. Doubt it though. Projected: 35-47
12. Raptors (16-28)
This team is essentially role player heaven. Nobody really strikes fear into your hearts when you see their roster. Also, their struggling mightily at the big man positions, so teams can dominate them down low with ease. Hopefully, we see a rebuild in Toronto. Disappointed Celticfan could not get anything better for Roy.
Projected: 32-50
13. Nets (12-24)
Other than Derozan and Terrance Ross, this team is not good. They struggle for depth at every positon and are in dire need of a rebuild around Derozan (he’s in his prime!). Unfortunately, redrum does not make any moves, so I can’t see the Nets going anywhere for a long time. Lotto bound. Projected: 30-52
14. Pacers (8-20)
Not too sure what is going on in Indiana. The Hambergeler sold his whole team for essentially nothing but David Thompson. Sure, he’s a good player to rebuild around, but his team could have been a contender. Could of at least traded for picks if it was an honest rebuild. Lotto bound. Projected 25-57
15. Wizards (12-34)
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a GM who loves to lose more than pistolpete. He is so in love with the draft that any decent pick will pry a good player from this squad. Not sure what his rebuild plan is, but for his sake, lets hope he knows what he’s doing. Lotto bound. Projected: 24-58
