Well there's a pretty nice looking draft coming up. Parish, Moses, Dawkins, English, Dantley, Free, Thompson just to name some of the young talent. We're past the half way point of the season so it's becoming more evident who will have the best shot at landing these studs. It's a pretty interesting race this year with some teams performing better recently than at the start of the season. There's a chance this list could change quite a bit by the time the lottery rolls around. There might be a team or two that even make the playoffs that are currently on the list.
The Power-Tankings
1. Detroit Pistons 14-34 (.292)
Home: 6-13 / Away: 8-21
The Pistons are the only squad winning under 30% of their games up to this point. They do have 22 home games left and only 12 road games so it's very possible they don't end up with the worst record by the end. Either way they will have a very solid pick (or two?) in this draft and will be adding some talent.
Tank Commander: Walter Davis – His overall stats aren't that terrible at 14.8/5.4/4.1 but he turns the ball over a whopping 4.2 per game. In their recent 1 point loss to the Jazz he had 10 turnovers.
2. Sacramento Kings 17-36 (.321)
Home: 11-16 / Away: 6-20
The worst in the West up to this point. They already have nice young talent in Thon Maker and Reggie Theus, so the future doesn't look bad. Humph and Deng are both past their prime at 34 years old and haven't had great seasons.
Tank Commander: Shabazz Napier - He's under performed this year putting up 13.5/5.7/3.6 in 32.2 mpg. Only .316 from deep.
3. New York Knicks 18-34 (.346)
Home: 12-15 / Away: 6-19
The Knicks don't look this bad on paper and only have a -3.1 differential. In the last sim alone they lost games by 1, 2, 3 and 5 points. A bunch of bad luck might lead to some good luck by the time the draft lottery comes around.
Tank Commander: MKG – The dude doesn't do enough in his 32.5 mpg. 11.3/5.4/2.3 on .424 and .376 from deep. It's a shame he didn't really pan out. Atleast he plays A- defense I guess.
4. Utah Jazz 17-32 (.347)
Home: 10-14 / Away: 7-18
Azubuike looks like he'll become something nice and Shabazz has been pouring in buckets but other than that Utah's been pretty flat this year. Only putting up 89.6 ppg as a team. If Mendoza would put up more shots it would help their offensive production quite a bit.
Tank Commander: Kasey Hill - As a PG putting in 29.4 mpg he's only producing 7.1/6.2/3.9 on .384 from the field.
5. Golden State Warriors 16-28 (.364)
Home: 9-13 / Away: 7-15
Looks like GSW doesn't own their first this year so this isn't where they want to be. Detroit is loving this. The Dubs just made a trade to bring in a B B scorer in Winslow and a solid defending big in Biyombo as well as Jennings at point which could go either way. They'll likely perform better than they have been, but who knows, maybe not and Detroit gets 2 of the top picks in the draft.
Tank Commander: Perry Jones – This is a 7 foot 240 pound SF with B- B scoring ability, who is cash from 3, who only drops 15.5 a game. The dude just doesn't want to win ball games right now.
6. Brooklyn Nets 17-28 (.378)
Home: 9-14 / Away: 8-14
The Nets had a really bad stretch in the first part of the season but have been playing .500+ ball lately. They just had a 4 game winning streak followed up by a 4 game losing streak in the last sim.
Tank Commander: Marc Gasol – He's been crap on offense putting up only 7 ppg in 34.1 mpg.
7. San Antonio Spurs 18-28 (.391)
Home: 8-12 / Away: 10-16
Here's the interesting one. Gotmelk is in his CY and the Spurs are the 7th worst team in the league after playing 46 games. However they recently made a move for Westbrook who has been ballin and Favors has been playing some nice ball as well. They lost by 1 to Dallas last sim, if they win that game it would have been a 4-2 sim. Three straight home games coming up to build some momentum. They've got 21 Home games left and 15 Road games, so there's still hope. If the next sim doesn't go well however, someone on the waiting list is gonna be fist pumping.
Tank Commander: Jimmy Butler – He's on the Bulls now after the Favors trade but he was poop on the Spurs this year. Season averages of 6.5/3.0/1.6 in 26.3 mpg.
8. Boston Celtics 21-27 (.438)
Home: 13-10 / Away: 8-17
Looks like Pope missed some games which probably hurt their record. They only have a -1.9 differential. They score decently at 95.8 a game but give up 97.7 which has been their downfall so far.
Tank Commander: Chris Paul – He's the leading scorer on the team putting up averages of 19.8/8.8/4.2 but is only shooting .398 from the floor and .308 from deep. He can't even hit free throws at .669 this year. Paul looks like he might be washed up at 34 years old.
9. Washington Wizards 21-26 (.447)
Home: 11-12 / Away: 10-14
Another team that's been playing better recently. They've won 4 of their last 6 which were all double digit wins. They were getting destroyed by a bunch of different teams at the start of the season.
Tank Commander: Joel Anthony – He rebounds the ball and blocks shots well. But still, only 5.7 ppg in 27 mpg isn't good enough.
10. a) Oklahoma City Thunder 21-25 (.457)
Home: 14-10 / Away: 7-15
10. b) Houston Rockets 21-25 (.457)
Home: 14-10 / Away: 7-15
Both teams have identical records, including Home and Away record. They both have worse point differentials than some of the other teams on the list because they've been blown out in some big losses.
Tank Commanders:
Yi Jianlian – This isn't China where he shoots the 3 ball over 6'4 small forwards. He's only shooting .275 from deep on the season and can't score inside.
Daniel Hamilton – A shooting guard putting up only 4.0 ppg in 31.3 mpg. Incredibly low production.
