Alright here's a look at the players who have taken a jump in production since last year and the areas that have improved. Just based on stats, not ratings. It's hard to notice the ones who don't score alot so I guarantee I missed a few. A shitload of players are putting up career numbers so far this season. Also we're only a third through the season so some players will be running hot, played weaker opponents, stuff like that. But numbers are numbers.
DET - Jordan McLaughlin
Last Year: 6.0 ppg / 1.9 apg / 3.0 rpg / .697 ft%
This Year: 19.8 ppg / 5.5 apg / 4.4 rpg / .798 ft%
Well the dude went from scoring about 10 points per 36 to about 20 per 36. It's safe to say he found his stroke in his 3rd season. He's shooting a respectable % from the field and beyond the arc as well.
OKC - Ramon Sessions
Last Year: 4.7 ppg / 1.9 apg / 1.6 rpg / .378 fg% / .307 3p%
This Year: 16.9 ppg / 8.5 apg / 4.4 rpg / .470 fg% / .397 3p%
OKC is one of the worst teams in the league despite what KD has been doing, but don't sleep on what Sessions has done this year. He's putting up nice all around numbers. If he had better defence he'd be one of the better PGs this year.
SAC - Patty Mills
Last Year: 8.9 ppg / .378 3p%
This Year: 19.3 ppg / .408 3p%
Patty's minutes are only up about 8 per game but he's scoring more than double as many points, while shooting the long ball better. He's taking 16 shots a game after only taking 8 a game in Dallas last year.
MIN - Derrick Rose
Last Year: 25.0 ppg / .472 fg% / .421 3p%
This Year: 33.2 ppg / .494 fg% / .448 3p%
His rebounds and assists have taken a hit with his increased scoring role. But still, to score 8+ more ppg while increasing his efficiency is pretty crazy. He's shooting a career high from the stripe so far too.
ATL - Nikola Mirotic
Last Year: 22.9 ppg / 2.8 apg / .447 fg% / .822 ft% / .376 3p%
This Year: 29.3 ppg / 3.5 apg / .478 fg% / .868 ft% / .423 3p%
His minutes are only up by about 1.5 per game. He's shooting the rock at a career high level from everywhere. A huge part of why ATL is 19-8 so far and have the second best win % in the East.
CHA - Zach Lavine
Last Year: 10.2 ppg / 4.5 apg / 2.9 rpg / .419 fg%
This Year: 16.3 ppg / 7.4 apg / 3.6 rpg / .486 fg%
No surprise Zach's production went up with his minutes going up about 7 per game. He's shooting the rock at a much better clip though since last season. Zach doesn't give a shit about the tank.
ORL - Jabari Parker
Last Year: 23.5 ppg / .340 3p%
This Year: 27.8 ppg / .436 3p%
Basically just his scoring has improved, his rebounds/assists are slightly down but I'm sure Shorty doesn't mind. A full 10% increase in 3 point shooting is pretty legit.
MIN - Iman Shumpert
Last Year: 10.0 ppg / 1.2 spg
This Year: 17.4 ppg / 1.8 spg
Shump's percentages are all slightly up but will probably finish around the same. His minutes are actually down about a minute per game. 7.4 ppg increase is pretty solid. He's never put up more than 10 ppg in his previous 7 seasons.
HOU - Blake Griffin
Last Year: 18.5 ppg / 9.4 rpg / .415 fg%
This Year: 22.7 ppg / 10.2 rpg / .486 fg%
Blake's mintes are actually down about 3 per game so his production increase is actually more impressive than it looks. A legit 20/10 guy in only 31 mpg is nice.
TOR - Kawhi Leonard
Last Year: 12.5 ppg / .475 fg% / .262 3p%
This Year: 17.3 ppg / .516 fg% / .429 3p%
T-dot has really gotten the most out of Kawhi's talent this year. He's never shot close to 40% from 3 in his previous 7 seasons so it's pretty impressive that he's at a 43% clip right now.
WAS - De'Sean Butler
Last Year: 13.7 ppg / 1.8 apg / .461 fg%
This Year: 18.3 ppg / 3.4 apg / .518 fg%
Washington couldn't get it done for celticfan but he definitely got the most out of Butler's talent. Career year and has become a solid scorer.
GSW - Anthony Randolph
Last Year: 10.3 ppg / 10.7 rpg / .433 fg%
This Year: 14.4 ppg / 12.6 rpg / .484 fg%
His minutes are up almost 4 a game which accounts for the scoring and rebounding increase. He's been more efficient from the floor however at almost 50% even though he's taking 3 more shots per game.
LAC - Joel Embiid
This Year: 9.2 ppg / 11.8 rpg / .394 fg%
Last Year: 13.7 ppg / 14.5 rpg / .460 fg%
Clippers definitely made the right move matching Embiid's max contract. Looks like he'll be one of the best post players in the league for years to come. He's only taking about 11 shots a game right now, if that goes up watch out.
UTA - Yilden Mendoza
Last Year: 7.8 ppg / 5.8 rpg / 1.3 apg
This Year: 12.8 ppg / 7.1 rpg / 2.0 apg
Solid increases from Mendoza in his second year. To be expected with 8 more minutes of floor time.
BOS - Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
Last Year: 16.7 ppg / 5.9 rpg / .766 ft%
This Year: 20.7 ppg / 7.2 rpg / .868 ft%
KCP is basically just scoring the rock more and shooting it better from the stripe. Most of his other numbers are pretty much the same.
NYK - Montrezl Harrell
Last Year: 11.9 ppg
This Year: 15.8 ppg
His other numbers are around the same. A solid 16 ppg scorer in his 4th year.
POR - Anthony Bennett
Last Year: .417 fg% / .313 3p%
This Year: .469 fg% / .520 3p%
His numbers actually haven't gone up at all, but he's been crazy efficient on the offensive end so far. He looks nice in Portland's offense right now. He's only taking one 3p a game though, so that could come back down to earth.
DET - Jordan McLaughlin
Last Year: 6.0 ppg / 1.9 apg / 3.0 rpg / .697 ft%
This Year: 19.8 ppg / 5.5 apg / 4.4 rpg / .798 ft%
