The Charlotte Hornets had an interesting last season. Fans believed once the season began that the Hornets would be in the playoffs that season and they looked the part for 1/3 of the season but in the final 20 days of the Hornets severally struggled and lost nearly all their games leaving them outside looking in by only 2 games. SO playoffs went by and the Bulls beat the Spurs 4-2 while the Hornets were watching it from their homes.
KG's reaction to the Hornets last 20 games.
Once again the Hornets found themselves in the Lottery after two years. So the Hornets made some small trade to acquire later acquire 3 2nd round picks in this years NBADSl draft. After letting Derrick Williams walk this off-Season the Hornets have been looking for someone to replace the defensive SF and were eyeing a replacement and felt that Justise Winslow would fall to them so they nabbed him.
Justice Winslow: #12 pick
Scouts say that
Justise Winslow is a power dunker who explodes off the floor and throws it down with tenacity. Is very creative with the ball and has terrific body control and hang time.
Lefty, who can take it to the hole with either hand and has a quick first step. Shoots it well enough to draw out defenders then makes his money taking it to the rim. Uses pump fakes well.
Very good shot blocker for a forward and has good instincts as a rim protector.

The Hornets thought the same thing and hoped to integrate a slasher and a scoring creator to help open some outside shooters on a predominate outside shooting team in hopes of keeping teams a little more honest when defending them. Justise Winslow also demonstrates a defensive prowess that should easily fit in with Lamb/ Faried/ Bismack/ and Macvan's defensive specialties.
2nd round picks:
This year the Hornets were left with 3 2nd round picks 2 of them coming from a trade and the other their own. Their a good amount of teams that trade away 2nd rounders to clear roster space for FA and others who deem them as non-factors. The Hornets had hopes in receiving serviceable role players in the 2nd round but they were prepared to cut any of them after TC.
2nd #25
Caleb Martin is a 18 year old SF who is 190 pounds and 6'7 from Davie County High School where he excelled as a player. Hornets saw him as raw player but has potential to become a decent role player.
Scouts say
Solid small forward prospect who has a good frame to work with and a balanced game. Can post up some, finishes in transition and is a good, not great, jump shooter.
Basically the Hornets adding more wing players to stash and develop for a while. Martin is 18 years old so they can afford to wait on him.
2nd #24
Chris McCullough is a 20 year old and 220 pound Center who stands at 6'10" was available for the Hornets Who needed to fill a need as their bigs rotation has grown thin.
What Scouts are saying:
One of the most athletically gifted big men in the class of 2015. Runs the court very well, can play above the rim and has superior quickness. When crashing the glass and hustling from rim to rim he is a load. Goes through spurts where he cruises and relies too much on his athleticism.
The Hornets hope they can get Chris McCullough to use his athletic skills to grab a good amount boards of the bench for a quick fire team. The Hornets will also be looking to have Chris McCullough have some serviceable big man moves inside the paint and get stronger to become a bigger threat in the NBA.
2nd #13
JaKeenan Gant is a PF of 21 at 6'9" and 240 lbs who has an NBA ready body and should fit in due to the Hornets lack of bigs. Grabbing these two bigs to develop should help this team in the long run.
Scouts describe
Gant has that prototypical frame for the high major level with long arms and overall great length. He is ultra-bouncy and gets up twice before most get up once. He is a terror in the open court while filling the lane as he gets most of his points in transition and attacking the offensive glass in relentless fashion. In the half court set he can knock down the elbow jump shot or slash his way to the rim off the dribble. Gant is still a young thoroughbred who is still picking up the nuances of the game. His overall offensive game is a bit raw as he depends on energy and athleticism at this stage.
The Hornets will try to develop JaKeenan Gant basic post moves like the running hook, timing on defensive rotations and rebounding to be successful in this league.
TC!
After a disappointing season many fans were hoping to see big improvement on a team bound for the playoffs last season. Some worked diligently while others lacked some motivation. The 2nd round picks remained the same or improved a good amount. The Starting 5 had some improve and decline in certain aspect of their game. Let's just hope this is enough to get back into the playoffs.
The Bigs:
Bismack Biyombo C 25 6'9'' 245 C+ D D- B+ B- C
Bismack seemed to lose some tenacity in the post and the timing is a little of as well. Still a great defender but will this slight drop effect the defensive presence he has given the Hornets for the past two seasons. Hornet fans definitely hope he can continue to do so defensively.
Chris McCullough C 20 6'10'' 220 C D- C- C+ B- B
The 2nd round picks skills have remain relatively the same but scouts do see his potential to become a very solid player the way he held his own against other bigs who are stronger than him.
Milan Macvan PF 27 6'10'' 265 C+ B D+ A- C+ C
One of the only outside shooting bigs in the NBADSL has seen his touch slightly diminish in training camp. A B+ shooter for four seasons has dipped to a B in TC. It might be due to the longer and more athletic bigs he face in TC. Macvan should still at least be a 17/10/ and 2.7 block player and a 10 Million dollars for the next 5 years is good for a player that can give you that day in and day out.
Kenneth Faried PF 25 6'8'' 225 B- C- C- B+ B+ C
Faried looks the same as he did last season a good defender with superb quickness and post position. A great tenacious rebounder and a good scorer in the post. Hornet fans want to see him at the Center Position now that Bismack and him are both similar defenders but Faried has a more expanded game which should help the team tremendously.
JaKeenan Gant PF 21 6'9'' 240 C C+ C- C+ C+ C
Gant's main problem before he got drafted was how his game would translate to the NBADSL and if he can play with the bigs on the glass. He solidified that he can grab a good amount of rebounds as well as somewhat defend and shoot the Jumper. It would have been nice if Gant could have developed his footwork but he still improved.
The Wings:
Terrance Jones SF 23 6'9'' 252 C+ C C B- C+ B
Jones had a chance to take the starting SF spot but did not develop this TC that they wanted. A tweener who can't guard faster SF or defend the post on other PFs. Now that Jones defense went down he is now going to be a 3rd string SF who might leave through trades or might continue to be stashed on this team until he develops further.
Boris Diaw SF 33 6'8'' 203 C B C+ C C D
Well Diaw has gotten older so his quickness has diminished and his Jumping ability as well, this was quiet evident when he was playing with a team full of players 26 and under. The shot has not fallen but can be a serviceable jump shooter still and a decent passer. His veteran leadership could help out a team that should need it.
Justise Winslow SF 20 6'5'' 208 B- C C- B- C B
Expected to start for a team needing a slasher to open up the offense a bit more. Winslow plays the same he did in college as he did in TC. He dunked on poor Boris Diaw and got into the lane rather easily at times. Defensively he has the lateral speed and jumping ability but at times does have his lapses but should be a good asset on this Hornets team.
Caleb Martin SF 18 6'7'' 190 C C+ C B- C A
A 2nd round pick who looked the more urgent to stay on the is team during TC. He has played as if auditioning for a spot which is far from the truth. The Hornets believed to be a pick that might not develop but Martin showed the organization he can really improve his game at a good pace. Martin developed rather quickly for a 18 year old. He can already create good scoring opportunities with an already a better developed jump shot and has shown he can defend other wing players fairly well. The Hornets will put him in the D-league to further improve his game.
Jeremy Lamb SG 23 6'5'' 180 C+ A- C+ B+ C C
Lamb has become a go to guy in TC. He now has a great 3-point shot and a highly developed jump shot. He improved his outside game but his inside game did dip a little bit. His shot has improved a lot that he takes it to the lane with less frequency. Lamb improved his perimeter and drive defense and can now leave players in disarray and without offensive flow. Now look to see Lamb become the #1 or #2 option on this Hornets team.
Álex Abrines SG 26 6'5'' 198 B- B C+ C C C
Due to a lack of defense Álex Abrines he has become the teams 6th man player that can do just about everything except keep an opposing player on him. Abrines lost some range from outside but he can now get into the lane much more easily because he worked on his quickness and finishing at the rim. He still is a good ball handler which should be fairly serviceable.
Gary Harris SG 21 6'4'' 195 C- C+ C B C C
Harris lost some speed laterally but is still solid and can defend multiple positions from PG,SG, and SF. Harris hardly has developed his inside game since getting drafted but shooting has remained constant since getting drafted. Hornet fans have hoped a better development but it still has not happened. There is still hope he does being 21 and all but for now he will be a 3rd string SF/SG.
The PGs:
Isaiah Thomas PG 23 5'9'' 185 C A- B- B- D+ C
Thomas still has his jump shot and a highly developed outside game with an array of moves that keeps the defense at a complete guessing game. Has a great handle and a low T/O rate. He is the same player he was last season. He should be the #1 option the way he keeps the offense a float and connecting from all cylinders. A player primed for a 20/7/4 stat line.
Ramon Sessions PG 30 6'3'' 190 B- B- A- C+ D+ C
Sessions is now on a similar page as all the other jump shooting guards. Sessions could start on any other team but will be the Hornets #2 PG and #3 SG on the depth chart and should be a very serviceable back-up when Thomas is resting and insurance if Thomas gets injured at any point in the season. Hornet fans love what they see.
Patrick Mills PG 26 6'0'' 185 C B- C+ C+ D+ D

Patrick Mills PG 26 6'0'' 185 C B- C+ C+ D+ D
Patty Mills looks like he came back overweight and left training camp exactly the same. His defense got worse and his Handles as well, what happened well even the Hornets are scratching their head. If Mills does not pick it up he might be backing his bags else where.
