Each draft desolves into a mess when people don't submit lists. What I propose (upon encouragement of several GMs) is that if it comes to a team's pick, and if an hour expires beyond the time they were up, AND they have not submitted a list, then they are fined $100. This should be part of the CBA.
The way we run the draft is irrelevant - what matters for ANY SYSTEM is that people provide lists.

IMO no. If you have the 29th pick do you really care who you get? You should just be CPU'd if you didn't send in a list. Maybe something other than cash. Like take away 100 posts (so you can't use it for RC camping)
Some part of me agrees but I'm mostly no. I know I'm going to get a lot of hate towards this post

As long as this is only applied to the first round, I'm all for it. If you want your pick CPU'd, just send CPU to Bundy. (or give me the pick )

either send a list or say auto pick or you get fined+auto picked.

either send a list or say auto pick or you get fined+auto picked. Agree with this. A fine alone isn't enough. Won't speed it up really, will just penalize someone. Speeding it up should be a priority. I haven't voted since it's just a fine.

should be higher, I don't think $100 is much in this SL, you could just participate in two live sims and get that money back (and the majority of people here do atleast participate).
Gotta hit them harder in the wallet if you want to get more list.
Also think that if you can't pay the fine, your pick gets terminated, just for teams who don't care about GM cash much (like myself)

How about if you don't submit a list, the player you get Auto'd will lose 5 potential AND you pay $100?

I think minusing from the player is a bit much, and potentially could lead to issues with players later. I'd like to avoid us damning an actual *player* (even tho' he's just a virtual creation), and hit ownership instead.
What about $200//Auto//and -1 on next year's draft position?

I think $200/auto is fine, money limits still $2,000 right? So someone will get hit atleast 1/10 of what they may have. That's fair enough and enough to get people's attention.

also means the draft has to start after the playoffs not during or before and need time limits from the 1st pick to the 29th pick, not fair if one gets autoed after 4 hours and has to pay the fine and another get autoed and pays the same fine.
I think bundy mentioned we might be changing to that anyways.

GMs just need to bloody be patient, when Im a GM Im always active with deals during the Offseason, I just unfortunately struggle with the timezones so I usually end up missing out on deals because the Draft and FA get done so quick. I don't see anything wrong with the Draft lasting a couple of days tbh.

And I'd be completely cool with making that the rule from this point on - we're setting aside 2 days for the draft, and nothing will occur until those 2 days are over, even if we finish earlier. That would be fine if it's the direction we take. I'm also fine with a lull if it's for a legitimate reason. What I'm not fine with is the entire process being held up because someone's simply being lazy. And I suspect that's the majority of cases. As you stated: about 10 GMs put in lists. A third? That's simply not good enough.

Now that the NCEA is closing, I'd say that the draft doesn't really need to last more than 2 days since people can just read notes n that's easier than finding the players in the NCEA. There should definitely be two days due to the time zone differences tho. 48/29 = 1.65 hr per GM, which is roughly 99.3 or 100 minutes per GM to draft. I liked gotmelk's idea where there's a deadline for each GM. If a GM takes 3 min to pick, then the next guy has 197 minutes to pick, but there are locked in deadlines. Start the timer after the playoffs are done, but allow people to start drafting BEFORE the playoffs start as well. If we implement this, then that should help keep things organized and moving. Someone will need to be here to help CPU picks or pick someone decent. I can help be a draft mod if I'm online. Bundy can help CPU of course. I'm sure Flip and somerandomguy can help be a draft mod as well. Maybe malice as well to cover more time zones.

I can always help CPU, but only if I have no remaining draft picks. Draft clock should start ASAP, with only 10 minutes per pick, tbh. Start scouting pots and choosing prospects. Which is why bundybastard puts out the draft class early.
