With the season being about 3/4 over, it's starting to become evident who will contend for the worst records in the league. There's alot of hype surrounding this draft class coming up and there's definitely incentive to be one of the worst after all 82 are over with. Assuming you still have your pick!
The Power Tankings
1. New Jersey Nets (16-38 – 29.8%)
The only team yet to win 20 games and they likely won't even hit that mark next sim. New Jersey did go 4-6 in their last ten however. If that trend continues their first place spot might be in jeopardy. The Nets season opener was a 110-105 win over Toronto believe it or not.
Biggest Losses: 43 to Celtics, 41 to Wolves, 40 to 76ers
Tank Commander: Brandan Wright – shooting just 35% from the floor at the PF position.
2. Philadelphia 76ers (20-39 – 33.9%)
Also in the Atlantic is the second worst team, Philly. They're 3-7 in their last ten and the tank looks to be pushing forward with solid momentum. They have an extremely well balanced tank with only 2 players putting in over 30 mpg.
Biggest Losses: 42 to Minny, 37 to Toronto, 36 to Cleveland
Tank Commander: Stephen Curry – he has decent overall numbers but his percentages are much lower than you'd expect. 72% free throws, 37% from 3.
3. Seattle Supersonics (22-41 – 34.9%)
Seattle actually has a positive home record at 18-15 but have gone 4-26 on the road. With the majority of their remaining games at home they could definitely lose their top 3 spot on the list. They're 4-6 in their last 10.
Biggest Losses: 35 to Suns, 32 to Blazers, 31 to Jazz
Tank Commander: Jason Terry - starting at the SG position at only 6'2 180 pounds. Uh oh.
4. Portland Trailblazers (20-33 – 37.7%)
Joining the Sonics from the Pacific division on the list is the Blazers. 5-5 in their last ten, another team that has a bit of momentum. They've only played 53 games, most teams are around 60 games played right now so they will have a hectic schedule to finish the season. Will that lead to a key injury? Hmm..
Biggest Losses: 28 to Wizards, 25 to Pacers, 24 to Nuggets
Tank Commander: James Anderson – putting up only 5.8 ppg as a SG playing 29 mpg.
5. Washington Wizards (21-34 – 38.2%)
The third team from the Atlantic to make the top 5. They've only played 24 home games where they're 13-11. With 17 home games left and only 8 road games, they could fall to 6th, 7th on the list when it's all said and done.
Biggest Losses: 44 to Jazz, 37 to Raptors, 36 to Heat
Tank Commander: Brendan Haywood – piss poor on offense shooting only 40.4% from the field at the C position in 27 mpg.
6. Atlanta Hawks (23-35 – 39.7%)
Atlanta enjoyed a nice 2-8 stretch recently after waiving PG Marcus Banks who was putting up all-star calibre stats as a starting PG. They have had some very close games recently including losing by 3 points, 4 points, and 3 points in the last 10 games. The Hawks look primed to move up atleast a spot or two based on their recent play.
Biggest Losses: 37 to Magic, 33 to Raptors, 25 to Raptors
Tank Commander: Sergio Llull – 11/6 in 35 mpg shooting only 41.6% from the floor.
7. Detroit Pistons (26-38 – 40.6%)
An 18-16 home team, the Pistons have the majority of their remaining games on the road which helps their chances at moving up on the list. 5-5 in their last 10 however. This is a surprising team to see near the bottom this season. Their defense has underperformed giving up 95 ppg.
Biggest Losses: 36 to Cavs, 30 to Raptors, 28 to Sonics
Tank Commander: Tracy McGrady – he's got good numbers but is putting up career lows in FG% (44.1) FT% (67.5) 3p% (36.8) assists (3.8)
8. Charlotte Bobcats (25-33 – 43.1%)
5-5 in their last 10. A pretty good home team putting up a 19-11 record. 6-22 on the road. This team has a very bright future with a bunch of solid youngsters – Thomas, Parsons, Faried, Macvan, etc. They definitely aren't worried by seeing their name on this list. This team should be contending for championships in a few seasons.
Biggest Losses: 39 to Magic, 28 to Bulls, 27 to Bucks
Tank Commander: Greg Monroe – shooting only 39.3% at the C position. That won't get it done for a 250 pound big man. Expect that number to climb next season.
9. Miami Heat (25-32 – 43.9%)
The champions make the bottom 10 with only 27 games remaining on their schedule. They're 5 losses behind Cleveland for the 8th seed but have gone 7-3 in their last 10 so anything could happen at this point. They could join the rare club of teams that win the 'ship then fail to make the 'offs the next season.
Biggest Losses: 42 to Celtics, 38 to Magic, 30 to Warriors
Tank Commander: Devin Ebanks – in his 24mpg he puts up 4.4 ppg shooting 40% and 30% from 3.
10. Dallas Mavericks (27-32 – 45.8%)
6-4 in their last ten game stretch. 13-13 at home. 14-19 on the road. The Mavs are only the 3rd Western conference team to make the list. They would still be in contention for a playoff spot in the East but see themselves dead last in the Midwest. Their defense has given up 97.2 ppg which is their downfall.
Biggest Losses: 32 to Spurs, 31 to Magic, 28 to Pistons
Tank Commander: Chase Budinger – 38.5% from the field. 10.4ppg in 33 mpg.
