1: I'm obviously going to remold the roster to help this team achieve that goal. I don't think there's many new GM's that are 100% ok with how the previous GM constructed the roster. Shard did a fine job molding this team and he is a good GM, but we both operate differently. I do plan on taking my old blue prints and using the same formula I used earlier on with the Heat. Though the players I get will be different the idea and how this team will click will be closely.
But yes, we have already made moves in that direction and will likely keep making moves until it's to my satisfaction (atleast for getting to the postseason) and we're ready to compete.

which of your young PFs would you rather keep for the future? Noah with his defense and rebounding or Anderson with his outside shot you rarely see in a PF and one more year on his rookie deal?

Is there a specific future prospect that you are hoping to build around? I'm just hoping for a franchise player, I don't like putting all my eggs in one basket and hoping I get the one guy. The loto can screw you up if say you only wanted Mirotic/Irving and end up 3rd. Reason why I like the 2012 draft because I'm sure this Hawks team can get a good player. |

Why did you move Roy Hibbert? he had a 1 year deal after this season, I don't like going into a rebuild and being hooked on big deals starting out unless the guy is a franchise player and young. Hibbert is a 7'3 big and would be 25 next season, someone will probably fork up the money to get him. Getting rookies from here on out for 4 years keeps my overall salaries low and allows me to make moves that I might not be able to make with Hibberts deal on the books the summer after this one. Same reason I didn't resign Noah |

Welcome back to the league. Do you feel like Atlanta can do what your last team, The Heat, did this season? win a championship? Ya of course, I wouldn't be playing at all if I felt like I couldn't win a championship sometime in the distant future. What would be the point? To just say ya I'm in the conference finals so I think that's good enough and people will remember my team (they probably won't) so yes, I have championship aspirations and will always have that. Now can the Hawks win it like the Heat did? No, every champion so long as it's not the same group of champions have a different story, just because I'm going for an identical model does not mean that every piece will be the same, for one I'm not sure I can get a player with the PG play of Williams who really elevated that Heat team when he came over as a rookie, I'm not sure if I can get shooters as good as Lewis/Redd and keep them as cheap as those two were which really helped with moves. I'm unsure if I can get the big play of a guy like Emeka Okafor who didn't need to score at all. But he did everything else that Heat team needed when there's a team filled with shooters who can't cover their own defensively and was a guy who was always the reason why the Heat were a top defensive team despite what you otherwise might believe about that team. Hell even the shooters like J.J. Reddick, J.R. Smith, Troy Bell (who ballislife added) etc aren't easy to duplicate and each of those guys put up good percentages. However, this Hawks team can rewrite the script, it could change some of my own beliefs about that model for the better. I could end up with players that do little things better then some of the players I mentioned. That's a future that I can't see right now that I hope to see when this rebuild is done. |

I'm more interested in getting players who I believe I can raise their value and make them better. I think that has been evident in my deals with San Antonio and Memphis (not so much Seattle, but who knows, Asik might not be bad) along with picking up Luther Head. I feel I'm getting players who have something to prove and I'm letting them prove it here. Those are the kinds of players I'm looking for because I know I can get a great return on those guys. |

I think going into a draft and targeting a single player early in a rebuild is stupid, your closing your thinking off to one guy and ignoring the rest, unless the guy you want is picked then your left scrambling trying to take a guy that you may not be comfortable with. Now if you have been in the loto for a few years or acquired guys via FA/trade that might curve your thinking and your forced in picking one or two players because of need then that's fine and that's sort of the position I was put in in 2005 when I took D-Will in hindsight you would have to admit that I was very fortunate to get #2 and not #3 given how well Williams played for me and having only the PG and Center position needing of a good player. But putting your eggs in one basket like that isn't smart, I have strong interest in this years draft and so long as I can get in the top 4, I will be happy with whoever I end up picking, 5 and lower might be a little tricky. |

Here's another in compensation: how long before the chuck & Atlanta rise to the top? #10: unknown at this time, I have to make the playoffs first with a core I feel strongly about before I can answer that question. If I have a bunch of players I have questions about then there's no confident way of answering that. It's like asking a brand new owner of a Pizza shop when they think they'll be able to compete with the top pizza chains in the country, it's an impossible question to answer because there's alot of things that need to be done to reach that level of success and that pizza shop might never reach that level of success. |

There has been a lot of change since the last gm quit what is the future in Atlanta #11: there's been alot of moves because the future of Atlanta is uncertain, if I knew the future of the team, I wouldn't be making so many moves. A GM makes moves because they aren't confident that what they have right now is good enough and they feel changes have to be made so things are better and hopefully that said future or goal they're trying to achieve is a step closer. Only thing I can say with some confidence is I plan on building around whoever I get in the draft this year assuming the balls bounce the way I hope or I can make a move to better our draft position to get who we want. Whether any of the current Hawks is apart of that build is uncertain at this moment. |

What would be an ideal type of team for you? It's evident you enjoy the "chucking" style, but would you want a team full of them, or is there a certain balance you are looking for?
