With the Jordan draft coming up it was very interesting to see that MJ has the power to make some strong demands coming into the league. He must win a ring every 4 years or be relocated into a better situation. Because of this I took a look back at some former #1 picks who were not able to achieve the NBA's greatest honor of hoisting the Larry O'Brien trophy. "The best player, who never had a fair shot" Kevin Durant- This player was one of the highest potential guys in league history. He was also one of the most disappointed. After many years of being locked up prison in Seattle and OKC Durant moved onto the heat only to still not win a ring and hang it up early. Durant’s teams had Bosh, Baron Davis and some decent supporting casts over the years but apparently never enough to get over the hump and even missed the playoffs many times. KD became very depressed after seeing plenty of rings given to Lebron, Roy and Rose. So much so he vowed never to play ball again. " Almost only counts in horseshoes" Paul George- George will go down as one of the most dedicated ring chasers in the league. He even put up shit stats for his first few seasons in the league so that he could get traded out of the black hole known as Boston to get a chance to go to the Pacers where he tasted the finals, but only to be swept by Memphis. The pacers probably gave him his best chance with a great supporting case until they were all traded to various teams after the firing of former GM Shard. But sadly at 38 PG is still ringless. " Fear the beard, not the D" James Harden- One of the most controversial picks in league history being taken #1 in 2009 over Westbrook, Curry and Cousins Harden did not disappoint by winning ROY. After being the lead chucker in LAC he was traded finally to San Antonio where the bearded warrior forgot his defensive shield and they lost to the Lebron led bulls in the finals. After his reign with the Spurs he bounced around never seeing much success from his teams. "Almost good enough for a ring" Rajon Rondo- This #1 overall pick never got his ring either. Is it because of his teams, or because hes frankly not very good. He never really did much offensively, his best season being 15 and 8. Rondo started in the Charlotte program which was not a fun place to be, moved around to the Hawks and several other teams before handing it up to be Sam Cassel’s extra in the new ET movie. "International sensation" Thon Maker- The international sensation took a few years to come into his own and has been with the same disappointing franchise all along. The kings have made the playoffs a few times and are doing all they can to compete in a Memphis dominated West but Thon came to the USA to be a winner and finally may have his chance for a fresh start right off of a 24-15 season with FA coming up. Will he return? Rumor is after seeing fellow Aussie Ben Simmons win his first ring Thon is Jealous. Him coming back will Probably have a lot to do with what the coach can get done this season in the playoffs. "A champion in a former life" Larry Bird- This man was supposedly a 3 time NBA champion in his former life time, yet in NBADSL he has been very disappointed with the team put around him. Larry Legend has won ROY, all league first team, all league first defensive has been a multiple time allstar and yet the nuggets only had one finals appearance in which they got taken out in 6 games by the veteran Raptors. Bird has decided to give the Nuggets another run with resigning but you can tell If they don’t take the next step soon this monster of a player will do whatever he can to get a fresh start and chase his ring. "The Wade comparisons" Seventh Woods- This prospect came into the league hot with comparisons to Dwade but although the stat comparisons are close the rings are not. Woods has averaged over 27 points per game over the last 3 seasons and due to the constant frustration of the nuggets GM this young superstar will see whats out there for him in the FA market. These guys did not have enough time in the league to really judge but we will see! 2025 Thunder (mrclubz) George Gervin SF 2024 Hawks (Bannak) Dan Issel PF 2023 Suns (ukjohn) Charles Barkley PF 2022 Suns (ukjohn) Jerry West PG 2020 Kings (basenoc) Moses Malone C

No time for GMOTY but have time for this. Hmmmmm. Jk Creative title for this. There's been a lot of talented and ringless players in this league. Rondo tho, that's his fault. Rondo was trash. I still remember Rondo being drafted over Roy itnas123

It becomes a chore after a while especially since the RC isn't really an incentive anymore. I have at least 20+ unused RC

Just could never put it together. He always makes stacked teams that underperform. In one league he had something like Westy / Harden / LBJ / Ibalka and I think he had Wiggins too but was average as fuck. In this league he had AI/Nash/KG but they underperformed too

Drose failed with KG,Nash,Rasheed, and someone else who I forgot. He got crazy bitter that people weren't giving him votes for GMOTY even tho his squad couldn't win 50 games and lost interest after that lol. Shard gave up on the Hawks after a few seasons. Same with SRG. So ya, Bannak has by far brought the team to their most glory

His problem was that he just tried putting together big names and stat stuffers and no good complementary players. When you stack that many star players together, what makes or breaks it is the depth and complementary players you have. It's hard to find the DC that utilizes each player's play style. The Heat found that out when they brought in Drummond which made them more talented, but they weren't as dominant afterwards cuz Drummond takes the ball away from his guards, and it seems his play style is different from them.

Yeah he always creates stacked teams talent wise that never perform. Would work on 2k though lol

In hindsight, I regretted the fuck out of that waiver lol. We ended up winning over 50 games that season anyway, but we definitely could've used Wade's production and scoring. Instead I had Kevin "Regular Season" Love leading me an early playoff exit

It took Ron Artest and a TC explosion from Stevie Francis to carry Tmac to a ring.
